Oops, forgot to update my journal yesterday. Was busy and fell asleep before I could.

Well 2 days ago I got into an argument with a friend of mine concerning graphics vs gameplay for games. Game that started this? Freelancer. Yeap, that space sim from Microsoft. Anyway, said friend downloaded a mod for the game and I got a link to it and I was browsing through the screenshots. Upon seeing the last screenie of the mod which was a bunch of ships shooting at each other, I looked at the screenie and said to myself "No... they screwed the lasers!". My interest in the mod dropped tremendously then. I brought it up to him and we sort of started arguing over graphics vs gameplay.
First off before I go on, Freelancer is fun... for the first few times you play it anyway. Gets very boring after several replays. Well, I've played it for atleast six times and I thought a mod could help me "like" it back. Buuut, no. It didn't. Why? because of said offending laser graphics. I won't be linking it here because I'm not going to it ever again, never.
Okay back to topic. We argued over the whole graphics thing. I said I didn't like it because the laser graphics are "eeew". He said it's just one weapon, not every god dammned weapon available in game and how I base my opinions off just one screenshot. I first played Freelancer on my old rig which had a TNT2. I was oogling the graphics on that game alot. However my friend there said it's not a pretty game compared to the modern games available at the market. Well, listen here. You must know that at that time, I can barely run ANY modern games. I had a 733 mhz pc, I had 384 ram. Freelancer was GOD to me and I don't like a mod ruining the graphics and everything I hold dear (about that game) for to me. You must also know that I am bored sick of that game. You MUST keep in mind that it is MY opinion. You don't have the rights to just go bashing at me because I said I hated the Mod because of it. I said I hated the mod, not the whole fucking game because of that one mod. >_O;; Don't say "You can just uninstall the mod." Don't say "If you don't like it get it off!" I heard enough of those stupid lines to even give a damn about it. You're not the one with the problems I face, thus you have no idea how frustrating it is to get some stupid line thrown at your face. Sure you may have SOME idea but it's not the WHOLE idea. I suggest that people just keep quiet about stuff and let me handle it my way. If you want me to listen to your opinion, fine. I'll listen but don't go pissed off at me because i'll just ignore you.
::sigh:: I want the games I play to have a good balance of graphics and gameplay. Take Ragnarok Online for example. It does not look pretty, but it has pretty well balanced gameplay. Yes I know you level up the whole time but talk to any RO player. They play it because either of the cutesy anime characters in it OR they play it because they can take time playing with friends and enjoying what virtual reality role playing games has to offer. Being some class or character you always dreamed about. Do I play RO because of the graphics? No. I can find much better MMORPGS (Graphics wise) on the net (Lineage2, Saga of Ryzom etc.etc)but I still play RO and RO only. Do I play RO because of the gameplay? Well, if leveling up everyday when you log in is considered gameplay then yes, I do. I like hunting, I like group hunting. I like getting to max level and point at people in their faces and go "Hahahah, I beat you, YOU and YOU!! You all suck... but I still love you all. <3". Wait I think I've gone off topic...
Of course that was 2 days ago and stuff, lots of stuff happened. What stuff? Well, happy stuff of course. What happy stuff? I'm not telling. Haw haw haw. Heh, just remembered I spent a whole night RP-ing with Ash. We had a fight, yes, a fight. He have it linked. Check it out. FYI, I suck at RPing.
