So the Spring semester of school is on my doorstep, and I'm wondering how I will fare with this semester's material. I've got Differential Equations, Material Sciences, and Phys 430 (Part 3/3 in Phys.). I've got my eye mostly on Dif. Eq and Materials. I've got Copely for physics and he's an awesome teacher, so I almost never have worries for physics. Materials is being covered by the same teacher I had this semester for my Vector Mechanics & Statics (ENGR) course.
Material sciences is something that gives my brain momentary-pause. Of what I've gathered from talking to several other ME, your junior year of college (next Fall) is when you decide what kind of specialization you want to take, if any. I've already mentioned how robotics is a specialization that interests me, but Material Science is as well. The only catch is, it'd entail plenty more chemistry. However after taking the basic chem 3 times, and more science-oriented classes in general, I do not feel as threatened by chemistry as I used to. Though I'm going to wait until I see what all specialization options are before making any decisions; I need to have something to weigh my decision against.
My cousin Ryan has let me (shortly) borrow his copy of Mass Effect for the Xbox. It's very fun; good character interactions, compelling plot, good firefights, and good dialogue. It's like Baldur's Gate meets the graphics of Gears of War meets Lost in Space. There's also a somewhat explorative portion of the game; you can travel around the galaxy to various systems and planets, however you can only land on a few plants. This however made me think of Spore, in that it will be a galaxy with hundreds upon thousands of planets, each one explorable, and each one made by a different person. Hot damn.
Tomorrow is also day 1 of a new exercise regiment. I want to do at least an hour total of weight lifting (and calisthenics) each week, and run a couple miles each day. Though eventually I'd like to run more, up to five. The hardest part about the fitness though will be giving up delicious, tasty, and fatty foods.
I suppose that's it for now. Back to the usual grind!
