So it's only day two in Michigan, and Janelle has already managed to get me addicted to The Sims 2. I've already made my guy, put him through college, and got him positioned with a job as inventor. My sim also follows my own life-long aspiration: becoming a Mad Scientist.
My cold is getting better, it's been a slow progression but it's at least in the preferred direction. I'm having a really good time beinh around Janelle and her family, they're always amusing. Especially since Janelle's sister Alaina provides me with plenty of material for me to tease her with. This is a reoccuring trend it would seem, as Janelle and her father have built up quite an impressive degree of skill for this as well. It bears repeating that when we visited the Detroit zoo, she pointed at Llama and said, "Look, Deer!"
Today was a fairly full day. We went to the mall to do some Christmas shopping, which took about four hours to complete. I'd really forgotten just how busy areas like that become during the holidays. We made stops at the essential stores; Spencer's, Macy's, Victoria's Secret, Best Buy, and so on. Initially we'd expected to get a ride from Tony [Janelle's brother] yesterday, so today was more of a catch-up shopping thing. There's also this strategy game I have my eye on called Maelstrom. I've been waiting for the price to go down, and the last time I saw it in Sacramento it was priced for $39.99. Today I saw it for $49.99. This is good, and bad. Good because it most likely means that people are buying it, and playing it. Bad, of course, because I have to shell out more money to play it.
And why would I spend money on any game at the moment that isn't Spore. *Drool*
After returning briefly from the mall we went out to have lunch, and we also watched/baby-sat Anne's kids (friend of Janelle's Dad) Jasmine, and Jaylin. When we returned from lunch Tony came by, and somehow he and Jasmine got around to spraying household cleaners at each other. Eventually Joe took Jasmine and Jaylin home, and then we went out to see the movie I Am Legend.
General Thoughts
I liked it quite a bit. Partially because I thought Will Smith did a great job playing the part of a man who'd become disconnected after not being near other normal humans for a long time. Partially because the scenary and scenarios were not overplayed, nor underplayed. But mostly because when Will Smith shot a "zombie" in the head, somebody yelled out [and with the perfect tone of voice] "HEAD-SHOT"
The break is going very well thus far, save for the fact that my professors have not posted the grades as soon as they claimed they would have.
But then again, I'm content with not viewing them just yet.
