The Beach

The family headed down to the beach yesterday. It was time for us to spread my moms ashes. She wanted to go to the beach. So we took her down on the beach in Rockaway, in front of these cabins that we use to stay at all the time. The cabins however are gone now. They tore them down last year and are building condos =(. But it still was the same beach at least.

It was a nice sunny day, barely a cloud in the sky. It wasnt too windy, which is unusual for an Oregon Beach, and it was nice and warm (also unusual). We came out of our beach findings for the day with a whole sand dollar and a whole mussel shell. There were also teeny tiny jelly fish all over the beach. They were really neat, they looked like those glass decorative rocks. Completely clear and almost a perfect sphere.

We all went out into the waves with a handfull of ashes. Each of us took a turn letting them go into the wind and water. I was the last one out there, holding what remained in the bag just staring at the water. A rather large wave came up and decided to get me wet. It wasnt too bad, I could feel and see the water halfway up my calf, somehow though I barely got my pant cuffs wet. A few other large waves came in and I finally grabbed the bag and let the ash all fly out while I ran back to shore with a wave.

Church bells from a church up on the hill started ringing. It was wonderfull. I checked my watch though and it wasnt on the hour, or the half hour even, and it was a Saturday evening. I wonder why they would have been ringing in a moment so fitting.

I took some pictures while out there. Here are some of them to share with you all. =)
