Tonks stumbled out of her fireplace coughing fitfully and eyes tearing from the flash of green light. The soft sounds of Hogsmeade were around her but all Tonks could hear was the painful pounding of her own heart. She managed to make her way over to the couch before collapsing onto it.
Bellatrix's spell was slowly wearing off but for the moment every breath Tonks drew in was laced with sharp pinpricks of agony. She closed her eyes both in pain and confusion. There was absolutely nothing she could think of that Bellatrix would gain by leaving her alive yet she did and that scared Tonks even more. She had never had that much contact with her cousin but through her own experiences and based on what her mother had warned her about, her Aunt Bella was not someone to be underestimated.
Groaning Tonks rolled of her couch and shakily walked over to her desk, sitting down with relief. Quickly she penned a note to Moody, telling him what had happened. He had wanted to be appraised of any Dark activity she encountered in Hogsmeade but figured he would want to know about this all the same. Once that was done she drew another sheet of parchment towards her and began to write...
Severus,
Earlier tonight when I was in Knockturn Alley picking up a few items I ran into Bellatrix Lestrange. Needless to say a duel resulted but Bellatrix apparated rather than try to kill me. A fact that worries me greatly.
However before I left Knockturn I saw what Bellatrix was looking at before she apparated. It was a stall selling illegal Basilisk parts, specifically those for use in potions. Now I know myself that Basilisk parts were commonly used in offensive potions and spells before they were outlawed and I can only assume that Bellatrix needs them to create some sort of potion for an attack. My first guess is an assault on Azkaban but in all reality it could be for anything. I have already alerted Moody to what happened but I was hoping you could shed some light on the types of potions that Basilisk parts are used for and ones that Bellatrix would be most likely to brew.
Thankyou in advance,
Tonks.
Tonks rolled up both her note to Moody and the letter to Severus then opened the door the the large cage of Owls she kept. Out of security reasons she never used the same owl twice and she always cast a protection spell over both owl and letter before sending them off. For tonight's mail she used two tiny Scops owls and sent them out into the night, flying in opposite directions.
Tonks rubbed her eyes as she closed, locked and warded the window behind them. After tonight's events she couldn't take any chances. Sighing a sigh that turned into a groan, Tonks pulled down a couple of books from the shelf above her desk. One was a book on advance protection for residential dwellings and the other two were a collection of expert offensive and defensive spells, charms, hexes, jinxs and potions, both legal and illegal.
It was time she picked up a few new tricks.
