Owl to Remus Lupin
Sorry, I haven’t responded sooner but there was fiasco up at the ministry. Nothing crucial of course but some paperwork got mixed up and created a few problems and I wanted to wait until everything was sorted out before getting back into my normal schedule. But don’t worry, everything is fine.
Anyway, since your last letter I’ve been thinking about how difficult a time Harry must be going through. How difficult a time you are going through as well and I thought this could be a good thing for you both. You’ll remember I was injured at the Ministry last year and spent time in hospital but once I had recovered I was unfortunately thrust straight back into work and never had the chance to find this out. Was a memorial service ever held for Sirius? I understand of course that it technically wouldn’t be official but I think maybe something small done at Hogwarts might make Harry feel better and be more accepting of what happened. Merlin knows, I felt better after I said my own goodbyes to my cousin but in all upheaval after he died and in keeping Harry safe I just never thought to ask. Of course, I feel bad writing this now because I have no idea whether I would be able to make it to such a service if one was organised but… well, the idea is there and it is now up to you to do with it what you will
Well, I hope the first couple of days of school have gone well. I don’t know how you do it Lupin. I doubt I would be able to stand all those kids without pulling my hair out. Oh don’t get me wrong, Harry and the others are great but I don’t think I could survive a classroom full of them. Barely survived the first time round.
