F. haju 'odour, smell'
Connected words:
* haista 'to be smelly/have odour'
* haistaa 'to smell something'
* hajuton 'odourless'
* hajuherne (haju + herne 'pea) 'sweet pea'
* hajuvesi (haju + vesi 'water') 'perfume'
It would be interesting to know whether words
like "hajota" 'to break down, disperse (intransitive)' or
"hajallaan" 'all around, dispersed' are related
etymologically. - I feel "haju" has begun to refer
more to "bad odours" than earlier, the two last
compounds in the list are rather old, I think.
