6:15 in the morning and for no reason I am still awake, sitting at All City Coffee, because at 5:45 I decided there was no way I would sleep enough to make sleep worth it and tore the covers angrily from myself, not sure what I was mad at. Rosemary sleeps peacefully upstairs in my bed

Wonderul entry! I've been thinking about you a lot lately as life in A-town, despite its secure nature and assurance of eventual (and needed) financial solvency, has gotten incredibly mundane. The thrill of being back in the 'States (did I use those words in the same sentence?) has worn off, and I feel as if I'm just surviving this summer 'til my position with the school system starts.
That said, your unbridled enthusiasm for the next adventure on which you'll be embarking was very refreshing. And how many times a day must "absurd" and "likely" pass one another swimming laps through that brain of yours? Christmas in a country that doesn't quite blow it up into a huge consumer festival (France) was good to see. I'm interested as to how (if in any way at all) they 'nod' to it in Thailand. You'll be living with someone named DJ Oat? Even better.
All the good, healthy food you'll eat (barring emergency drunk-hungry runs to the corner pizza place, of course)! Happy re-immersion! Oh, to live in a place you just want to melt into, as opposed to one in which you perpetually stand out, and worse, where you have no desire to assimilate to the hoi polloi.
I hope to keep in touch with you during your stay. I'll keep you posted on my K-6th graders' antics and SissyLu's 67-year un-run. Meanwhile, however, I fully expect to (even by way of mass email) be briefed now and again on the goings on over there in (Oh You Mean) Krung Thep. Best of luck, take care!
love ya
