Gerard looked up at me and smiled reassuringly. He reached up and took my hand in his.

I tried to smile back but ended up just biting my lip.

“Gerard Way? Mr. Gerard Way?”

He stood carefully.

“Doctor Lawrence is able to see you now.”

He pulled me after him as he walked into the doctors office, the door closed behind me and I don’t remember anything from that point until Gerard placed a coffee in front of me and pulled me in close to his side.

We were in a diner, pressed together in the huge booth.

I looked up at him.

He smiled. “Sucks, doesn’t it?”

I just blinked.

He sighed, “I guess that a couple of hundred years of smoking will do that to you.”

I tried to smile, I really did. I don’t know how well it turned out because half way through I realised what I had tried to block out.

All my fears were confirmed.

Cancer.

Lung cancer.

He curled his fingers around my arm and looked up at me, eyes too big. “Are we, do we have to tell everyone?”

I swallowed. “I don’t know what to do with out you.”

He just smiled at me, “and I would never leave you willingly.”

He was tired though.

It was his nearly time, I knew that, and so did he.

“We don’t have to tell everyone straight away.”

“Anyone?”

I sighed and turned to look at him. “We need to tell them.”

“But… It’s Edward’s birthday in a month. I want that to be all happy.”

I guess I understood, but… “And then two months after that it Kat’s and then three months later is Max and Jordon’s and then Mikey’s and then mine and then… Gerard we need to tell them eventually.”

“I’ll tell them before you turn sixty.”

You’ll be pleased to know I protested on your behalf because, obviously that would have blindsided you a little.”

“Thanks.” Edward smiled. “So how long ago did you find out?”

Frank sighed, “Well, you found out two years ago, we found out when I was still fifty.”

“Seven years, you’ve known for seven years? Hell that’s nearly eight years, Frank how could you not tell us?”

Frank shrugged, “Gee was good at getting whatever he wanted.”

The colour in Kat’s face returned, redder than before. “How did he keep you quiet for that long?”

Frank smiled, closing his eyes. “Well, sex, blowjobs, rimming…”

“Frank! Seriously!”

Frank shrugged. “You asked.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He pressed closer. “I was right.”
I looked up at him, I really didn’t have a clue what he was on about.
“The hardest part of this is leaving you.”
“You’re not leaving yet.”
He smiled at me. “No, no, I’ll make it to your sixtieth at least, I’ll give you birthday sex for sticking around that long.”
He… he… he…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Edward pulled Frank close, rubbing his back.

“He didn’t make it.” Kat intoned.

Frank gasped.

Mama.
