:: Finally got my ass around and finished this. I thought it was about time to do my "5 Reasons To Love Meryl Streep" picspam. Why? So we can revel in all the prettyness. Also I do a really annoying running commentry complete with quotes and everything, I thought I better explain the reasons for my choices although when I read back on it it doesn't really explain anything it's just genral rambling. I did work my ass off at it, enjoy.
5) No two roles are similar;
"I was in a sort of self-induced bad mood all the time. When you're a controlling task- master,
everything is not quite right. Generally you're dissatisfied and that state of being is not wholly enjoyable.
So I found that I couldn't enter into this fun on the set because I felt it wouldn't help the dynamic if I immediately
went over and was joking with Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci. They all were always having a party in the corner and I just couldn't join in."
- On her role in The Devil Wears Prada.
There’s no denying that Meryl streep chooses the most interesting roles and you can safely say that no two are similar. The fact that she can take on any role and deliver it so flawlessy never fails to amaze me. Sure I believe that some roles are better than others but no matter what I could never look back on a movie and say her acting was below average, I read that Meryl is known to be a perfectionist when it comes to preparing for a character and It’s clearly noticble in the final performance she gives. I’ll be the first to admit that I would have probably never looked twice at a movie such as Adaptation or even The Manchurian Candidate as I could never see myself fully enjoying them. Again I’ll admit that I only watched them in the first place because I knew Meryl was in them but this is why I’m greatful for her varied movie choices because now I have a more wider taste of movies genres.
4) She gives the best acceptance speeches;
“& here we are getting paid very well ... sometimes”
- Accepting the Coolidge Award.
Sure I want Meryl to win an Oscar, Bafta, Golden Globe or whatever award she happens to be up for because it means she’s been rightly celebrated for her work and noticed for her greatness. But there’s a huge part of me that always looks foward to the speech that follows, if there was such an award for the best acceptance speech Meryl Streep would win hands down. I could quote half her acceptance speeches for the rest of my life and be quite happy, I love how she always seems so baffled that she’s won and genuinely happy and for me it’s just the cutest thing. I’m always deeply saddened if she hasnt won an award mainly for her speech. I could quite possibly be the worst Meryl fan.
3) She has one of those infectious laughs;
"A laugh is a smile that bursts"
- Mary H Waldrip
There are some people who have the most infectious laugh or smile and yes Meryl for me has that. I can be watching an interview and she’ll laugh at something and that’s it, I’m gone for about 5 minutes. I love the little nervous laugh she does, I dont know if that’s what you would call it but I do. And her smile, need I say more? It just screams pretty. You have to smile along, I cant help. Worst of all it’s when you dont realise you’ve been smling for the last 10 minutes and you get face ache. I’m dedicated what else can I say?
2) She creates the most adorable moments;
“You’ve been cut, alot of your lines have been cut. I said WHAT? I read the play then with alot of interest and went scurrying up to the director & said what about this?”
- On her lines been cut in Doubt.
Meryl has the ability to turn me into a puddle on the floor, no denying it. How she can do something so adorable without really doing anything at all makes me love her possible more than any other reason I could list. Anyone who listens to my immense ramblings about something that she has done, it can be anything by the way. I find humor in the strangest of things, but honestly she does the cutest things. Her facial expressions alone are the most amazing thing ever known to earth & her sense of humor is brilliant. It’s in those adorable moment that I realise that is why I love her.
1) She's still beautiful and even more so than 30 years ago;
“I tried and then I said Fuck it, It’s just to hard and I’m happy”
- On losing weight for her role in Devil Wears Prada.
I know looks arnet everything and of course Meryl is stunning, no doubt about it but It’s mainly for the fact that now she seems really compfortable with who she is and in genral her whole view on looks and what to wear and whatever else. When she was younger she was quoted saying she never felt pretty enough, personally I cannot see where she got the idea from but everyone thinks that about themselves. The fact that she looks just as beautiful and probably even more 30 years on, I cant believe she will be 60 this year! I convinced she’s lying about her age, I’m sure she’s mid forties and just adding on an extra 15 years. I think I’ll just let the pictures to the talking,
