Falling in Reverse: 6/10
Honestly, I hate this band. Not because I think they are bad (I actually think they're quite good), but because I find Ronnie's behavior appalling. That being said, I'd had no intentions of seeing them during my Warped Tour experience. The only reason I did at all was because they were playing on the main stage right next to the sign with all the set times on it. They were pretty good, certainly weren't awful, but I wasn't paying much attention to them.
Blood on the Dance Floor: 8/10
I haven't listened to them in months, but they played enough songs I knew that it was still enjoyable to watch them. I didn't stay for their entire set, but I definitely liked what I did see. Dahvie is funny and interacts well with the crowd. The band members all have a good chemistry together onstage. They certainly lived up to all of the ridiculous tales I've heard told about their stage performances, and that was the best part, I think. I would definitely see them again sometime.
Senses Fail: 6/10
I love Senses Fail. I really do, but they disappointed me. The crowd was weak, and they played too many of their softer songs for my taste. No one even bothered to attempt moshing until the final song, and it didn't quite take. Buddy Nielsen's banter was nice, and I loved hearing all of the things he had to say: "Managers like it when we yell at you, so I'm going to yell at you like this, at a normal speaking tone, because that is how you talk to people." I would like to give them another chance, preferably at an indoor venue with a longer set list. They're the kind of band that needs a light show and time to play some of their less popular songs.
Sleeping with Sirens: 8/10
I had never listened to them before Warped Tour, but I was definitely pleased with what I heard. I only heard their final song, but my friend saw their whole set and claimed it was amazing. I don't doubt him. The vocalist of Sleeping with Sirens has a gorgeous voice, one of the best I have ever heard. It makes me melt. I'm going to check them out for sure.
Taking Back Sunday: 7/10
Taking Back Sunday is one of my favorite bands. They're simply fantastic. They were pretty good live, but I have to admit... I really hate "El Paso." That song makes my ears bleed. The rest was all good. My only real complaint beyond my hatred of that song is that they didn't really talk to the crowd much at all. In fact, I can't remember them saying anything to us. I dislike when bands do that sort of thing, because it makes the whole experience a bit impersonal, and you might as well just be listening to the stuff straight off the album.
Pierce the Veil: 8/10
I only heard the first song they played, because I was walking past to get to where Memphis May Fire was playing. I wanted to see Pierce the Veil too (and I really wish I'd just stayed to listen to them), but they were playing at the same time, and I had to pick one. They sounded great from what I heard though, and I will definitely have to see them at some point in the near future.
Memphis May Fire: 5/10
My main complaint about their set was that the majority of the songs they played were off their new album. The new album is alright, good enough, but I don't know the songs on it very well yet, and I would have rather heard a few more songs off their earlier albums. The crowd was very rough, although it wasn't the worst I've seen. There wasn't much crowd interaction beyond "oh hey, this is off the new album." I actually left during their last song out of pure boredom. I would like to give them another try live, because I really do love their music, but like Senses Fail, it would have to be in an indoor venue. (Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against outdoor venues. I've been to Warped Tour twice before this year, and I've seen other bands of the same genre at outdoor venues and had no problem with their performance. Some bands just need to be in different places.)
Bayside: 9/10
This band was fantastic live. I would absolutely love to see them again someday. Their show was great, their music was great, and they had great banter. They were one of my favorite bands of the day, and I was influenced enough to buy one of their t-shirts. I would recommend them to anyone.
Yellowcard: 8/10
I'm not a huge Yellowcard fan. I listen to them sometimes, sure, but not too often, and I don't know all that many of their songs. Surprisingly though, I knew all but one of the songs they played live. They were pretty fantastic, and their interaction with the crowd was pretty amusing. "What's your favorite swear word?" "FUCK!" "Glad we're all in agreement here." Towards the end, they were saying 'thank you' and 'goodbye', and I thought they were just finished, that they'd actually finished without playing "Ocean Avenue," but they closed out with it after a rather long pause.
Breathe Carolina: 9/10
They were hands down the absolute best performance of the day. (The only reason I didn't give them a 10/10 is because their set was kinda short.) Their set list was fantastic, and they were ridiculously loud. The crowd was absolutely perfect. There was lots of crowd surfing and barely any moshing. Everyone was friendly, and nobody seemed to mind that we all got pushed together. I would definitely see them again and again and again...
