I cannot begin to describe my love for Paris, along with the rest of France. Three summers ago, I spent 4 weeks traveling all over France. Needless to say, it was an incredible experience that most people don't get a chance to have, especially at age 11. I have this growing love to Paris and the people in it, there's just something about it that you can't find anywhere else. This was my 3rd time in Paris, so I honestly didn't feel compelled to take very many pictures of Paris itself. You know, the usual: the Eiffel Tower, Arc d'Triomphe, Champs Elysees, Notre Dame, the Louvre, blahblahblah. If you ever go to Paris, don't spend all your time looking at the norm. Go out of town and see all the Chateaus--- Vincennes, Chantilly, Chambord, Chenanceau + more. But regardless..
This is the only picture I took before we went to Mont St. Michel. We got to the apartment, stayed in Paris for two days, and packed up for one night in St. Michel, and then came back for another week in Paris.
This is Mont St. Michel. My parents love coming here. Like, love-it-enough-to-cry-when-you-get-to-the-top kind of love. It's B-E-A-yootiful. If you don't know anything about this place, it's a town and a huge cathedral situated on this mountain, and the tides come and go very very quickly every day. you can see the water coming from the sea, which isn't very far away since this is in Normandy.
the tides fill up here
So after we were on Mt. St. Michel, we went back to our hotel, and across the street and there were a zillion prettttyyyy flowers! and I got super excited and took pictars. even though they're flowers. shut up.
rows and rows of roses
poppies are sooooo cute!
and this is outside the room's window. it's nice waking up and looking to the right to see a big mountain that looks out of place.
So last time I was in France, my mom left a week earlier than the rest of us because she only gets 3 weeks of vacation. Sooo, she didn't get to go to Rouen. So my dad drove us to Rouen on the way back to Paris. Rouen is so so so cute! (&it's also where Joan of Arc was burned.)
catheeeedral!
And this was an ad for Printemps. It made me happy.
super cool clock tower...on both sides
"Jeanne d'Arc"
the next 3 are inside the Joan of Arc Cathedral. it has the strangest architecture for a church i've ever seen.
After 4 more hours of driving and going in circles, we finally made it back to Paris!
my dad took these next two. this is from the balcony of our apartment. it's nice just sitting out there watching all the people go by, especially when there's a soccer game going on. You can hear everyone yelling in the streets.
Aaahhhh!!! They're renovating the Lous Vuitton store on the Champs Elysees, so they put up these two GINORMOUS model LV suitcases. the tag says "150 ans" (150 years). even though it's LV, it was still ridiculously cool.
Place de la Concorde
Dang. I can't spell. I forgot if it was Concorde or Concordia cause my mom would always say it in spanish and i just forget. Gah.
the obelisque! (Egyptiannn = super cool)
a really pretty fountain in Place de la Concorde
You'd better know what this is.
This is in the section of town called Pigalle. It's where the Moulin Rouge is located. along with a million other sex shops.
So we went from Pigalle where all the sex shops are, to Sacre Coeur. The best time to go is at sunset. sooo pretty.
Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart)
I like this one a lot too.
underneath the biggest dome
The next day, my mum& i went to Centre Pompidou, which is the modern art museum. last time i was there they had the most incredible pop art exhibit. it was soo...WOW. Awesome. I was hoping for a cool exhibit, but they only had two smaller ones that I didn't like all that much, and a huuge Miro exhibit! I really like the Miro exhibition. you can really see the progression of his art. it's nice. i didn't know you could take pictures until i got to the other floor. This is some of the main stuff:
WARHOL'S ELECTRIC CHAIR!!! It made me happy.
other stuff---
haha wtf
LICHTENSTEIN! This also got me excited even though it's definitely not one of his best. and neither is this picture.
This was cool, it was a big room filled with these tiles made of leaves held back with wire, and in the back of it was a gold brain.
Louvre, Louvre
Ack! After losing my dad and spending quite a while waiting and looking around in the heat, by the time we found him, the line for the Louvre was waaayy long, so we didn't go. but there's a big glass window from the outside showing a room of sculptures& statues inside.
I love walking around.
some really bad pictures of Luxembourg Gardens:
Pantheon!
OMG, if there's anything I love, it's walking through the open markets. There's rows and rows of jewelry, fish, meat, fruit, leather goods, flowers, &all sorts of things. It's awesome.
Oh, and just for the record--
(taken out of the window of Centre Pompidou, hence the crappiness.
Okay, so I did mention how I went to Hotel de Ville (it's like city hall) to watch the France vs. Croatia game with my papa, and how at halftime, everyone got kinda crazy and started fighting and throwing stuff? This is when I got up. Before that, everyone was sitting down, eat, smoking, and drinking. I could have gotten some great pictures then, but it was impossible to get up &sit back down again.
I fucking love these.
Pont Neuf, perhaps?
A few hours before we had to leave to the airport, my parents&i decided to walk down to Notre Dame for one last visit. as usual, there were 23090834761238785 groups of Japanese tourists, being loud and annoying. this big Frenchman said "SHHHHH!!" really loud and they all scattered away. it was kinda funny!
FIN!
tell me which one you like best!
