it took me so long to reply to this, but here it goes. i know people are going to (probably) shoot me down, but i'd like to think that these people who discourage you are only looking out for you. i'm sure you know that as well. i have nothing against you going for your dream. i support you. i believe that teaching is a very noble job, and you have the right motivation for it. the world needs more teachers with the same intent as yours. but teaching isn't the best job. where i am, teaching is usually a job where sacrifices are too many and compensation is too less. this gives me a different view to teaching as compared to people from well-off countries.
i don't know how i became practical (or if this comes from the stereotype of being asian), but i will always go for the path which will ensure that i will be fed--that and i love food too much. i gave up taking a writing course for an engineering course because my father explicitly told me: "you don't need to learn how to write for four years." and even though in a way, he crushed my dream, i know he just wants a stable future for me. five years later, i don't regret giving that up. it is true, after all. but as i said, there's nothing wrong with going for your dream. it defines you, and it makes you want to be a better person. that is a lovely thing. but don't forget to have back-up plans, because the world is unforgiving at times. nothing is wrong with going for your dream job, but don't forget to take care of yourself. i hope you get what i'm saying. i feel so bad typing this, but it's what i think so i hope you'll consider it.
ALSO YES ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. (on a side note, have you read the secret?)
