Day 02 - Your favorite movie
My favourite movie... Well, I kinda sorta always struggle between these two, so I'll just list both.
One of my favourite films is Ao no Honou from 2oo3 that starred Ninomiya Kazunari, Suzuki Anne & Matsuura Aya. Nino played a psychopathic teenager with an uncontrollable step-father. Suzuki plays his sister (and played his love interest in a drama the following summer, how odd) and Matsuura acts as his classmate/female character to play off of. It's super amazing in every way; the script, the acting, the cinematography, the impressions from strict Japanese culture; everything. Its pace is slow, but I've come to love that in Asian Cinema (perfect examples being Audition and Marebito, though both are "horror", so watch with caution >.<) and it suits this script beautifully.
Ahem, sorry, I always get carried away when talking about that film.
The second is Hard Candy from 2oo4 starring Ellen Page (yes, Juno) & Patrick Wilson. Ellen plays a 14 year old girl who meets this 30-odd year old man (Wilson) on the internet, and after a few weeks of chatting, they decide to meet up. There's a couple slightly sexual innuendos exchanged in the cafe where they first see each other, but end up going back to Wilson's house anyway, and Ellen's character wants to have a private photoshoot (Wilson's a photographer with his studio in his house; how convenient). Everything happens inside this house. Everything. Why do I keep italicizing the word "everything"? It's nothing like you first expect it to be, and it truly fucks your brain over and chuckles to itself the entire time. Again, the cinematography is absolutely stunning (I love cinematography, anyone notice yet?) with the colours and just how they make an entire film shot in one house not stale with the use of clever camera angles and lighting. I suggest people to watch it, since it really does throw you for a loop, but obviously it contains a taboo topic *coughpedophiliacough*, among others, so again, watch with caution.
...Okay, scratch that; I get carried away when I talk about film period. Seriously, it's a bad habit because it bores people in real life (they can't exit the browser like you lucky folks).
