Spoilers: If you know who Gabriel is, you're good.
Summary: Jesus Christ is dead. Somehow, that isn't the worst part of Dean's week.
Comments: I know that I tend to say that every fic I rec is one that must be read right now, but this one truly is. It's long--19 chapters (several split into two parts), and somewhere around 95k words--but completely worth it. Took me two days to read it, and this was so good that I would be willing to give up my lifeblood (otherwise known as Sam/Gabriel) for a month to read this masterpiece of the written word. This fic is so damn awesome that I actually wish it was canon. I can kinda see how it could be lengthened to make a 22 episode season arc. It would be epic. It is epic. Castiel is amazing, very fleshed out, and an actual being. Dean is sarcastic and snarky as ever. Sam and Bobby are dependable and loyal. The rest of the known cast that shows up (not spoiling who) are all in fine form, and the OCs who show up are all (even the kid who's only in two scenes!) so detailed that they're alive and stay with you even after they're gone.
The author, in their opening notes, asks of anyone rec'ing their fic to please not give away the big reveal. I'm going to honor that request, and make one of my own. If you read this, then comment, please don't spoil it. No vague hints, no oblique references, and for the love of all that is holy, please don't flat out give it away. The Reveal (yes, it now deserves it's own capital letters) is too awesome to spoil. It is beyond spoiling and while normally I am more on the "well, they'll find out anyway" side of the fence, for this, I completely believe in leaving the masses unspoiled. All I will say is be prepared to be completely floored.
