...so obviously there are spoilers for tonight's ep here. I know I don't do these very often, but Meg isn't on and I need to vent.
Okay. First off? That demon!nurse is awesome. I like her.
Secondly? Sam is SUCH a lemming. Everyone's jumping off a cliff and what's he do? He follows right along like a good little lemming. (And, yes, I am aware that Lemmings don't actively go jumping off cliffs...just humor me and my metaphors of doom, 'kay? Thanks.)
Thirdly? Wow. I don't think I've ever seen Bobby so damn pissed or curse that damn much. Neither has Dean, if the look on his face is anything to go by. Which brings me to point the fourth...
...what did Bobby do when Dean suddenly disappeared from his study?
Also, in the Green Room of Cliched Opulence, did anyone else think that if Dean actually ate or drank those burgers and beers, it'd be like Persephone eating in Tartarus and being stuck there forever (or, well, half a year since her mother was the original Mother Nature and her father was God)?
Speaking of the GRoCO, I would really love some caps of those paintings on the walls. I get the feeling that the one we see near the end of the ep isn't the only one that pertains to the Prophecy of Winchester.
Now onto Cas. Oh, poor, sweet, conflicted Cas. He looks so beaten for most of the ep. Like someone killed his puppy in front of him then made him eat the remains. At least we now know what Cas was going to tell Dean. Hell, now we know what CHUCK was gonna tell Dean.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, lets take this moment to reflect on one simple fact...
I WAS RIGHT, BITCHES!
Lilith wasn't supposed to BREAK the final Seal, Lilith WAS the final Seal! I called it last week and I was fucking right! YES! God, did anyone else catch that? The way they kept going on and on about how Lilith breaks the Seal, it couldn't be any other way.
*ahem* Sorry, but I had to get that out of my system. Now.
Sammy. Sam. Sam. Sam. You complete and utter dunce. Your morals are trying to revive themselves from the poisoning you've been dousing them in for the last twelve months and what do you do? YOU IGNORE THEM! *facepalm* God, you fucking idiot. No wonder Azazel choose you.
Oh yes, the YED himself is in this ep. Threw me for a loop, the opening did. But. It explains so much! The entire reason that Sammy and the other kids were chosen! And why YED said Sammy was the one he was rooting for. He knew Dean's destiny and (I think) meant for it to be Sammy, the younger brother, to be the one to foil Dean's hard work. It goes a long way to explaining why he didn't choose Dean, the eldest son.
This means, of course, that Azazel's great plan? Was to raise Lucifer all along. THAT is what he was working towards. Which means he probably MEANT for Sam to die because he knew Dean would make the Deal and Sammy would come back just a bit off. Just enough that he'd be tempted to use his powers once pushed. Once, say, his big brother was sent to hell.
Now Zach. I know, hard left turn. Do try to keep up. Zach. This man is a heartless SOB, and that's the truth. This man, this ANGEL? If he's not one of Uriel's swayed brothers, then he's the one who recruited Uriel in the first place. I knew from the moment I saw him in 4x17 that he was Bad News. And I was right. Again. "God's left the building"?? WTF? This makes me think that he's interceding all of God's messages and making sure jack and shit reaches the Big Guy. At the very least, he's mucking up the orders for everyone else below him. Methinks Metatron's gonna be PISSED when he learns of this FUBAR.
Now back to Cas and the wonderful return of awesomeness (aka his balls) he experiences. Did anyone else get chills when he not only stopped Dean from becoming the next Persephone, but also slammed him into that wall while holding the knife? I mean, WE knew he wasn't gonna hurt his Dean, but damn. And when he cut his arm, I admit that my first thought was "Oh wow. So Dean drinks ANGEL blood and goes off to stop Sam!" But him pulling an Anna and painting an anti-angel sigil in his own blood on the wall? I loved what a big "Fuck you" that was in angel-speak to Zach.
Oh, and the look on Chuck's face when Cas and Dean pop up. "This isn't supposed to happen." Uh, sorry dude, but Cas and Dean are ad-libbing from here on out. When I saw the promos, I kinda worried the hand on Dean's head meant that Cas was putting him to sleep to stop him. I'm glad that was exactly the opposite of what he meant to do. Also, Cas? Up against an Archangel? Oh, woobie. On the other hand, did anyone else about die laughing when Chuck tried to give Cas a manly hand-on-shoulder and Cas just glared and he removed his hand? Seriously.
Oh, and Sammy. *shakes her head* Sam, Sam, SAM. You hear Dean and you don't listen? That's always been yer problem, man. You never listen. And now look what you've done. You've killed Lilith and released Lucifer. Way to go, champ! /sarcasm
Oh, and Ruby! Was that not a shocker or what? I've kinda had doubts about her being all good from the get go (my only experience with her is with Genevieve Cortese, who's awesome) but I never would have guessed she was Lilith's Hand. I mean, never. On second thought, however, Lilith taking over Ruby's body to sic the hellhounds on Dean in 3x16 now makes total sense.
Oh, but Lilith died so prettily, didn't she? And her blood, it made the most awesome pattern on the white marble floor.
But Sam. *whaps him upside the head* LISTEN to your brother next time, dammit. At least Dean can make "Kill that Bitch" off his To Do list. It's always nice when one completes the goals one sets for oneself. Oh, but that was an awesome cliffhanger.
So, to recap:
Cas turns his back on the Host and last we see is about to face off with an Archangel, which by his own admission in 4x18 are heaven's greatest weapon. So basically this fight is like pitting a cap gun against an ICBM. Good luck, Cas. We're rootin' for ya, buddy.
Sam initiated the Apocalypse, dooming us all to Hell and Raising Lucifer in the process, but he's made amends with Dean so all's good. The brothers now wait, arm in arm, for Lucifer to show his gorgeous (cause he ain't gonna be anything but) face and damn them all. Thumbs up all around!
So. Anyone else impatient for next season? I know I am. This ep, overall? I give a 4.5/5 stars because while it was wicked awesome, there was no hot boy on angel action and that GRoCO practically demanded that Cas and Dean get it on. Other than that, it was a perfect cap to a perfect season.
