Because I haven't forgotten my Taiwanese boys. Little improvised drabbles behind cut.
;; jiro/danson
It's not very smart of Danson to carry around pictures of him and Jiro, pictures too intimate for the public eye, pictures he doesn't think anybody but him and Jiro have even seen. Pictures where they don't kiss, don't even touch, but the looks seem to tell more than they ever intended and that's what makes them special, makes Danson slip them in his wallet, his bag, whatever he's carrying when he travels. He carries them and hopes they don't fall out, and it's not very smart, but then, it wasn't smart to take the pictures in the first place, and it wasn't smart to fall in love with Jiro, and it wasn't smart to express it. It wasn't smart, it was just what he had to do.
;; calvin/chun
If Calvin was a girl, Chun thinks, and okay, Calvin couldn't be a girl because Calvin's very much a boy, and behaves like a boy, and Chun swears to god he also smells like a boy, sometimes unfortunately much, but if Calvin was - and Chun really should never enter this path of thought, but there you go - he'd make a good girlfriend. For Chun's standards, anyway, and when he realizes it's too late to turn back on this road of logic, he just goes with it, and thinks about how easy Calvin would be to hang out with, how much fun, how comfortable and awesome. But, and this is a very big but, Chun stresses to himself, emphasizes and underlines the fact in his head, he's not gay and Calvin's not a girl so obviously this isn't meant to work out.
He slips his hand into Calvin's, and Calvin smiles at him, and Chun snorts, "You're such a fag." and it's just a random joke, and Calvin just keeps smiling, "I'm a hungry fag, let's go eat" and this is why Calvin would make such a good girlfriend, he just knows what Chun wants, except for that one thing, the one thing that is Calvin himself.
;; arron/jiro
"Jiro and me should act in Brokeback Mountain," Arron reads himself say in a newspaper, and this is horseshit, the reporter's question was totally leading him to answer that, though he could've mentioned Calvin, okay, or Chun, fine, but Calvin's too crap at acting - he knows it, they know it - and Chun, well, does anybody look at him and go 'Now there's a cowboy?', no, of course not. Arron was good at school, was good at logic and this was simple logic, if there was a movie, it'd have to be him and Jiro, and he doesn't think about it any further, not when Jiro rents the DVD from the hotel lobby, not when they settle down to watch it, not when he moves uncomfortably on his seat. Jiro says, "I hope you don't think I--" and Arron stutters, "No", no, he didn't think anything, anything except Jiro kissing him desperately, holding his face like he had missed Arron for an eternity. Credits roll, and Jiro says "I liked Happy Together better" and Arron hasn't seen Happy Together, but he agrees and Jiro plays a joke on him, leaning in, almost to kiss but then not. Arron's heart won't stop beating when he goes to bed and the next morning he wakes up exhausted and decides he will never say anything in interviews again.
;; arron/chun
He opens the door and finds Chun, in only a towel and a shower cap, and thinks, "If the fans could see this," but the fans can't, only him. "What is it?" he asks and Chun explains, hygiene, he won't shower where Calvin just showered, he knows Jiro and Arron haven't showered yet, hygiene, bacteria, Calvin shaving, yuck. "Fine, sure," Arron says and Chun showers, and Jiro sleeps and Arron listens to the water running.
++
Chun hooks his arm around Arron's neck sometimes, whispering, "You know we're friends, right" and that's not to say Arron's not closer to Jiro - he is - or that Chun doesn't consider Calvin, despite their teasing, despite their mocking about, one of his closest friends in the entertainment industry, but Arron appreciates the effort, appreciates the touch. Calvin announces from the other end of the table, to Jiro, that their bandmates are conspiring against them and Jiro doesn't seem to care, just eats. Chun eats, too, and focuses, and yet his arm stays around Arron and maybe - but Arron doesn't really consider it.
++
There's an English saying Arron sometimes can't remember the Chinese equivalent of, "snowball's chance in hell", and that's what he used to think, about Chun, and him, and then Chun kisses him, just kisses, out of nowhere, out of somewhere, simple as that. And this is weird, and yet he accepts it, can't help but do.
