This is where I prompt myself and try to write 5 ficlets within 60 minutes because I've been all lame and over-critical of my writing as of late.
Of course, this would mean these totally suck.
stepping up the game
epik high/super junior - tablo/hyukjae - pg - to die or live it, you know that the choice is yours / just make sure that the voice is yours.
It's unfair, Tablo thinks. But really it's not, it's just the way the world works.
Money means fame means promotion means vapid jokes, corny lines, means work for some people and a pain in the ass for others. Talent might not as well not be a factor at all, in the game of showbiz, so really he should feel foolish watching a kid on-stage (secretly, whenever Tukutz isn't in the room of Pe2ny goes to the bathroom) and wondering if there could be anything more to him, his potential than rapping about fantasy weddings or shaking his ass on some brain-numbing variety TV show.
Hyukjae has his phone number, but as much as he seems to appreciate Tablo hyung, he never calls and Tablo's too awkward to call him back. He thinks, there needs to be an initiative coming from some sort of great revelation - that this skin-deep, crowd-pleasing money-churning crap (no, he doesn't want to call it music, music is the epicenter of his soul, after all, his most natural being and his most unnatural love) is nothing, is nothing at all except a way of paying for your daily bread.
But revolution didn't start when Marx wrote about it, and Tablo knows all about being overly hopeful (usually in relation to women, mind you) so during some Anyband event he gets sick of Boa giving him the cold shoulder (lady, being big in Japan don't mean shit, he really wants to tell her), he goes to Xiah instead. Junsu is happy discussing Hyukjae, indeed almost happier than Tablo has seen him thus far.
Revolution began because Lenin read what Marx had to say, and Tablo gives Junsu a CD, to give to Hyukjae. At home he drowns his thoughts in music, because there's no such thing as fixation, obsession, when you're trying to make the whole world change. He starts with one, and when his phone rings next, it's a thank you from Hyukjae, and more important - "I listened to the CD, it's very good". Tablo writes a new song that night, because there's listening and then there's really listening, and maybe he's not good enough to ignite minds - but at least he's fucking trying.
same-same
super junior/big bang - kangin/top - pg-13 - I feel like adding this is inspired mostly by
this and a little by
this.
It's a cycle. New faces, fresh faces, saying goodbye to old ones, seeing them on other programs - well, maybe.
It's a weird cycle, because the resemblance is evident, and when Kangin's home early one night, and catches a bit of Music Core with Yesung, there's a pang of something in his chest (naming emotions is so not his forté) because that used to be where he stood, right there, right there.
He can't exactly hate Tempo for it, and doesn't, the next time they meet at the backdoor of a television studio, and Tempo lights his cigarette for him. They smoke in silence, as it's fucking cold, and it's only when TOP stubs his against the building, then wiping the ash stain with a mitten, that he finally says it.
"Thanks."
The dongsaeng looks at him, smiling awkwardly. "What for?"
Kangin doesn't look at him. "You know how celebrities always offer excuses at the smoking spot, all this bullshit about how they're quitting soon, how they should stop, how it'll ruin their voice, give them cancer. Thanks for not doing that."
It's not what he meant to say. But it'll do.
"Your hands are freezing," TOP replies and this is cute, the implication there, but Kangin thinks there's only so much you can tell a hyung without making it seem like you have a crush on him, and maybe Seunghyun here hasn't quite learned where those lines are to be drawn.
Kangin stubs the cigarette and walks to the door, TOP taking a step or two back, instinctively. He's against the door and here's the window of opportunity if ever but Kangin just smiles and after stubbing his own cigarette, pulls out gloves from his coat pocket.
He could say something cool here, but it's best he waits for next time, if there'll ever be a next time. They go back inside and TOP's cheeks are red, maybe not just from the cold and Kangin feels a pang of something else in his chest (this feeling he doesn't even want to put a name on).

shinhwa - minwoo/dongwan - r
"You're starving," Minwoo says, running his hands on both of Dongwan's sides, and where there used to be muscle (all over, and he liked the way Dongwan felt back then), there is bone now.
"I did Manwon Haengbok," Dongwan says, even if that's not the point, and Minwoo couldn't give a fuck about the starving image of a ballad singer, he just wants his Dongwan back.
Dongwan grins and Minwoo vaguely realizes he's touching Dongwan an awful lot, even for them, but he just wants to know what's changed, if anything has, really.
Somewhere in the background of the kiss (Dongwan's back against the wall, Minwoo's hands just touching and touching and touching, free to do it with an excuse, even to the point of obsession), Minwoo thinks of the album cover, thinks of Dongwan alone on stage. It's weird, because it's so new, and yet (his hand sliding inside Dongwan's jeans, a familiar-sounding groan escaping the other's mouth), doesn't really seem to matter.
under the knife
super junior - kangin/eeteuk - pg - I've wanted to write about Eeteuk, and plastic surgery because I've felt like ..I need to? IDEK. Here's what I got.
Kangin can look but would rather not see. But he's been close enough to see the scars, were there any, and there aren't, there isn't a single one, there's just fresh skin (made fresher by make up, made more perfect by lighting) and Eeteuk's eyes, and he thinks the eyes have always been the same, but he could be wrong. Heechul sometimes says, but fuck, Heechul says a lot of crap, he's fooling himself, because you can't reverse those things and Eeteuk - Jungsu - is now as he will forever be, and there's no looking back.
If Eeteuk asks him when he fell in love with him, Kangin will say he doesn't recall - because he doesn't want to recall, because there's no point in recalling the moment when Jungsu was pretty, but not this pretty. Kangin remembers it like a black-and-white photograph, and even recalls how his heart hurt (but that's not really what love is, in the end) when Jungsu told him the first time, said to him, "Why be this when I can be so much more?"
Kangin didn't have an answer then, and it doesn't really help that he has one now.
---EDIT----
I'm really sorry I had to do this but what with this LJ flagging thingy, I had to delete a potentially controversial ficlet here. You can leave a comment with your email if you really want to read it. (The pairing was Tony An (H.O.T)/Andy Lee(Shinhwa).)
