You take the good, you take the bad...

So here's a new item on the list of Things I Never Need to Eat Again: Amy's frozen veggie pot pie. Can I just say...ew! It was small, dry, and I will never, ever find tofu to be an acceptable meat substitute, I don't give a fuck how much you try to make it look like chicken ( Read more... )

I haven't had good experience with any of the Amy's products, except for the cheese enchilada. That one is delicious.

Try Michael Angelo's. Their veggie lasagna is quite good.

Normally I buy the Marie Callender's pot pies for a quick school night dinner, but the grocery store didn't have the one I like, so I thought maybe I'd try something different. Ick. My husband is a fan of the Amy's burritos, I think. I mostly don't like frozen food/dinners, but I do like the Marie Callender's chicken pot pie!

Ah, I was trying to suggest another Natural brand because I thought maybe that was your preference, but I don't know of any other ones that make pot pies. :)

Not at all - I'm always happy to try something new! I'd heard a lot of good things about Amy's, so I thought I'd give it a go, but it was pretty bad. And now you've reminded me that I wanted to do another veggie lasagna from scratch, though, so thank you for that!

Ouch re: the shower caddy! I have one that hooks around the shower head but that one comes loose every now and then. It doesn't fall completely off, but falls enough to make all my shit fall out. I think they're all a pain.

I love when companies give you 39 hours a week so you're not "full time" and they don't have to give benefits or anything like that. Agreed though, no point in leaving for the same exact thing.

Seriously, that really hurt! I'm hoping it doesn't bruise. I thought about one for the shower head, but as you say, they come loose and then all your shit is all over the shower. Bah. I think I might look to see whether I can find small, individual baskets with suction cups to stick in the shower to handle some of the products. We only have one tub, so all three of us have our various crap in there, and it's a bit crowded.

The thing is, I know quite a lot of law firms still work a 37 1/2 hour week and call it full time, and pay benefits accordingly, but I feel like it's super insulting to say "Hey, we're really impressed with you and want to offer you a job. But only a part time one with no benefits." Yeah, sorry, if you wanted him that badly, you'd do what you could to offer him a full time benefits package!

that is such horseshit about 39 hours/week and no benefits. I can't imagine I would even respond to that kind of offer. Insulting, if you ask me.

Also, ouch. Thanks for instilling a fear of shower caddies in me, girl. 'preesh.

I think insulting is the very first thing I said. I understand that Leo is supremely unhappy at work right now, but I feel like this first (not at all ideal) offer is really tempting him. He decided to spring it on me this morning as he's basically walking out the door that maybe he wants to look into paying health insurance out of pocket and asking this company for that amount of money extra so he can take the job. Never mind that he also wouldn't have paid time off at all, or 401K or anything. I still think it's not a good idea for a litany of reasons that I couldn't articulate in the five minutes he could give me this morning to talk about it. I'm hoping we can have a reasonable discussion about it tonight, but I just really feel like if this company won't hire him full time, they're not going to come up with the extra money that would allow us to pay out of pocket for health insurance ( ... )

whoa he must be a lot more unhappy at his current job than he has let on. I am surprised he would even consider that. =( And considering you guys are a single income family PTO and a good 401k are you know, IMPORTANT. I'm sorry he didn't get a better offer, but he applied a lot of other places, right? I'm sure something will come along that is more appropriate for your family. Hopefully when he gets home tonight y'all can sit down and talk about your concerns. <3

I know he's been very unhappy, but I think what surprised me is that he apparently hit his limit last week, and so of course ANY out seems attractive right now. I get it, but we talked about it a bit more, and he's not going to take the offer, which is a bit of a relief. I know that just because he's applying for jobs (and he is, lots of them, and my sisters and brothers-in-law are passing around his resume, and he's networking with his own family and friends, too) doesn't mean that interviews and offers are definite, but I just felt like it was a bad plan to take the first offer that came along, mostly because it wasn't a good enough offer. I'm sure something will happen soon, but I know he was disappointed to have to turn down the offer he received, as he REALLY wanted to work for that company. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to want him as badly as he wanted them.

Oh, if only I'd had some wine! I think I have a few beers in the fridge? Nevertheless, I finished Sex and the City AGAIN! And thank you for the good luck! Leo's got another phone interview on Thursday afternoon for a job that he's really interested in, so we shall see what happens.
