I'm Terrible at Movie Reviews

So I have been watching some movies and TV lately! Possible spoilers ahead for Julie & Julia, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, Knight and Day, and Twin Peaks.

* Julie & Julia - Super cute! I'm not generally a fan of Amy Adams, but I adore Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci, and together they're pretty great. I really enjoyed the two different plots in this one, and found it pretty interesting to learn a bit about Julia Child. Light, funny, easy to watch, fun - would watch again if I was bored and nothing else was on.

* Brief Interviews with Hideous Men - I'll just say this up front: I don't care for David Foster Wallace, and this film is based on a book of his short stories by the same name. I just...no. You can dress this movie up and whitewash the descriptions of it all over the place, but I still have a problem with a film adapted and directed by a man from a book of short stories written by a man with a female protagonist that basically boils down to WHAT ABOUT THE MENZ?! I'm still pissed off that I spent an hour and fifteen minutes on this movie. I have a lot of feelings about it, but I won't vent my spleen here unless one of you has seen it and would like to discuss in comments.

*Knight and Day - I dislike Tom Cruise. I dislike Cameron Diaz. I have no idea why I watched this one, apart from it was late, I wasn't tired, and the wine I'd drunk while watching Julie & Julia had impaired my judgment. *yawn* If you like the action/adventure genre, you'll probably like it. PS, it wasn't funny.

*Twin Peaks - Okay, so I finished watching last night, and OMG THE LAST EPISODE! I'm really bummed out that the show was cancelled, but the very, very end was SO GOOD. I mean, I don't think there was any other way that it could have ended for Special Agent Cooper, and if it had to end there, I'm pleased with that ending. I like that things were left just open-ended enough, but not too much so that I'd be super annoyed and not feel like things were wrapped up enough. Next is Twin Peaks Fire Walk with Me, which is apparently a prequel movie, and then...I'm going in search of fanfiction, I think!

sometimes i have unpopular opinions, the idiot box, let's all go to the movies
