I'm also not one of these folks who gets pissed by spoilers, but if I knew the answer to the question that you asked I would have enjoyed the movie a lot less. I would have missed out on a whole lot of "they can't ... how did they just ... holy crap".

yeah i was absolutely waiting for them to pull another planet Vulcan out of the alternate time-stream, or go back into time and fix everything. At the end of the movie, STATUS: STILL NO PLANET was pretty awesome. Haven't felt so pleased since the first Matrix movie where STATUS: DESERT OF THE REAL lasted the entire movie, rather than being "resolved".

Exactly. I've become so accustomed to writers being constrained by the necessity to preserve canon that it took me a while to realize that they were just ditching the whole thing. STATUS: STILL NO PLANET. WHAT NOW, BITCHES!?
