Remember the
Republican Gas Conspiracy? Well it's election season again. Earlier this summer I predicted that gas prices would drop 17% before election day because gas prices always drop 17% between August and early October. This summer, gas peaked at a nationwide price of $4.10 before declining to $2.83 - a 30.9% decrease. Maybe the near-collapse of the world economy has something to do with this, or maybe the Republicans are doubling down on their secret control over world oil prices.
Then again the previous charts ended on September 24, and at that time *this* year gas was $3.59/gal. The steeper decline came even later, and unfortunately I don't have that data from previous years.
