Parental Advice

Dec 01, 2007 10:28

I'm leaving for Santarchy Asia tomorrow. I told my parents the plan about a month ago and after briefly mentioning something about immunizations and a brief "have a good time and be safe" their only parental advice, which they've been repeating to me with great insistence, has been "before you leave please fill out a will so that we don't go have to go through probate to divide up your stuff if you die in Cambodia".

As someone who values sensible practical advice I appreciate this advice, and I understand that they've probably got this on their mind after the recent death of my grandfather, but even so it feels a little weird to have that be the message they're sending me off with.

Anyway since I should do this anyway that's what I'm doing right now.
