Wow indeed. I have to send money to family in Canada and it used to be like $100 US = big party in Canada. That's amazingly bad news for my poor relatives. Literally poor. Shheessh! *depressed*

This isn't as bad for me as it used to be, actually, I made a little money on the conversion two years ago. But perhaps consumer prices will fall somewhat. Although for things I'm interested in, that are only sold at specialty retailers, they'll still be charging 1.50 and up. Makes me crazy.

Canadians know the relative market values of $CDN and $US kind of the same way we talk about the weather: it's a survival trait that has become part of the culture.

My Canadian relatives often talk about their income in Canadian dollar terms but their expenses in American dollar terms.

Nobody said global rebalancing wasn't going to hurt a little. In the long run, it's a good thing.

It's actually gone up - CAD/USD was below 1.06 for a day or so in the recent past.
