The difference between AM and PM and conventional clocks really piss me off.
Hear me out, people.
I can never remember whether 12:15am happens when the sun is up or down. It seems like it should be AM because 9,10,11:00 were AM. 12:00 should be the latest AM there is. PM happens at night. All the higher-numbered PMs occur when the sun is down unless you're in Antarctica during the summer or something.
Who the hell invented a sequence of incrementing numbers where the 'sign' flips between 11 and 12 but the numbers flip between 12 and 1. That's utterly insane. Even worse that it happens at "noon", usually a pivotal time during the day for planning lunch or midday airline travel.
And don't even get me started about the day change on the other side. You're telling me that it's 11 goddamn hours between November 1 11:00pm and November 1 12:00 pm? Does that make sense to anyone? If someone tells me to meet them at "12:00 Friday night" I will be 24 hours late, all because of this retarded system, unless they are ALSO retarded in this way, which given the way the system was designed is QUITE LIKELY.
Fuck you, clocks.
Military time makes more sense, but AM/PM could be salvaged the same way: by indexing from zero.
0:01 AM -> 0:45 AM -> 1:10 AM -> 10:30 AM -> 11:59 AM -> 0:01 PM -> 0:45 PM
That's the way it should be.
Some day I'm going to find out who invented the world's common system of timekeeping and kick their ass.
