Iraq's Civil War

Feb 24, 2006 12:42

On February 22nd the Shia Al Askari Mosque in Samarra was bombed by men in police uniforms. On February 23rd there was a massive demonstration in Baghdad for Shia/Sunni unity attempting to stop the Iraqi Civil War. 47 of the demonstrators were hauled from their vehicles and shot by men in police uniforms at what appeared to be police roadblocks. In the backlash of the Al Askari bombing 10 imams have been killed, 15 have been abducted, 168 Sunni mosques had been attacked around the country, with dozens set ablaze and still on fire. For at least a year been hearing stories about insurgents infiltrating Iraqi police departments, leading me to believe that "men in police uniforms" may be actual police. NPR and several major news organizations are calling this the start of the long-predicted "Iraqi Civil War".

Not a very good return for $243.22 billion, or $1828.72 total from the 133 million US taxayers this year. Unless there's a sudden victory plan I haven't heard of that's $627 per taxpayer in direct military spending every year for the forseeable future, not counting the costs of treating our wounded or fighting the terror attacks which have increased dramatically since March 2003 including today's successful attack against the largest oil refinery in Saudi Arabia following last Friday's unsuccessful attack.

Meanwhile, Fox News is once again ready to ask the tough questions:
