Danishes -> Roses of the Prophet Mohammad
I never thought anyone would match the stupidity of renaming "Freedom Fries" but Iran has at least matched it. They're renaming Danishes to be "Roses of the Prophet Mohammad".
Not content with pelting European embassies with petrol bombs to protest against cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad, Iranians have decided to rename the "Danish pastries" relished by this nation of cake lovers.
From now on, the sweet, flaky pastries which dominate the shelves in
Iran's cake shops will be known as "Roses of the Prophet Mohammad," the official IRNA news agency reported as pressure on Denmark over the cartoons took on a new dimension.
The whole thing stinks. Everyone involved is guilty and stupid, from the rioters burning embassies to the religious authorities who fabricated the outrage to the right-wing cartoonists who wrote and published intentionally offensive cartoons to make Muslims angry. The worst thing of all is that the Danish cartoons aren't even good, insightful, or funny.
The one exception is the Israeli Anti-Semitic Cartoon Contest who seem on the right track except for the misspelled "Israely" in the page title.
