VES Awards "Show And Tell" 2005

Jan 13, 2006 21:54

A while ago I was talking to someone who mentioned that a lot of movies these days are shitty but the effects look cool, and wouldn't it be great if you could just see the effects and not have to suffer through the movie.

For those who feel this way the Visual Effects Society is having their annual "Show And Tell", where the nominees for the VES Awards will present their most impressive work including shot breakdowns. It's pretty fascinating, and even if you're a geek like me you will achieve full CG saturation by the end. I think this is the first year that the event is open to the public.

8:30AM - 4:30PM
Skirball Cultural Center
2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd.

Purchase tickets for $20 each by calling the VES office in advance at (310) 822-9181.

Alas, Sony scheduled the company ski trip this weekend so I won't be able to attend and will have to do my voting online. (You'd think that a VFX company would keep the VES Society in their shedule.)
