Maybe it was dumb of me to move away from Florida to a cold place (that is actually still considered part of the subtropics, but... no, it's cold.) Maybe I should have done more (any) research. I don't know, but I need help from people who are more experienced with these "seasons."
I was reading winter energy-saving tips since I am both new to this and poor, and it was suggested that an appropriate temperature for your thermostat in winter is 68 degrees. And 55 degrees while sleeping. Ho. Lee. Cats. I have had the thermostat steadily set to 74 degrees. I guess I can expect a high gas bill this month.
Any tips for keeping warm? I have a heavy down comforter. I can sleep in layers. Is it energy efficient to use an electric space heater? I'm not allowed to have an electric blanket this year thanks to Kid Fetus, but if I got one next year, would it be a good investment?
