If you guys have nothing to do on Saturday, please come to the Blessing of Animals at Mission San Luis, from 10-2 and bring your pets! The site, a historical and archaeological ground with reconstructions of Spanish colonial and Apalachee Indian structures, will be teeming with animals, animal-specific vendors, pet adoption booths, wildlife rescues, free food, arts and crafts, an elementary school art competition, free treats for pets, etc. You can get your pet blessed in the church by a Franciscan priest (photos of your pet being blessed are available for $5). The day is really fun and really free. I'm going to be doing face painting, so come see me and I will paint you to look like a tiger, dog, butterfly or Spiderman. It will be awesome.
Also, on Friday October 12th, from 5:30-7:30, I will be participating at the "Bark & Wine: Art for Animals" art exhibition at the Animal Service Center (the shelter at Tom Brown Park). I have a painting on exhibit and will also be selling prints. It's also a really fun time. There is free food, beer available for sale, and you get to look at art and dogs and cats and rabbits and guinea pigs, etc. Sales of artwork go to benefit the animals at the shelter.
