I can cross 2 Metal bands off the list of bands I will not be listening to in an attempt to broaden my musical tastes with more brutal music. Chimera and Soilent Green opened for Dethklok, and while they put on a pretty awesome show with kickass lights and a lot of getting the crowd going, I just didn't feel it. With songs like "resurrection " and "no reason to live," I just wasn't interested in hearing what they had to say.
Give me songs called "Bloodtrocuted" and "Murmaider." Give me fucking killer humor. I fucking love Dethklok. The talent from the guy behind it all is just awesome. The show was just too good. To give an idea to others who may be wondering how an animated band plays a show... basically the guys playing where on stage, but lights were off so you couldn't really see them and the band was on the screen on the back. THey played a music video for each song, which was fucking sweet. Not just typical lights or some amped up visualizer, but fully animated videos unique to the concert. (They don't play the full song on the show ever)
Did I mention the show was kickass? It was amazing how after an entire show of screaming, Brendon Small was able to go between 3 radically different voices of Nathan, Pickles and Skwisgaar in a conversation with the audience... Man, so cool.
I'd go into more details but I'm feeling lazy.
