[from here]He nods and smiles reassuringly. He grabs two fresh drinks, hands one to Alisha, and leads her to the nearest, unoccupied, pillow room

Alisha tucks her feet under her, sipping at her drink and looking at him. She smiles reassuringly, reaching out to touch his hand. "Well, considering where we are and that my best friend is apparently dating an actual fairy with wings? Let's go with the idea that I'll give you the benefit of the doubt."
Ton laughs. "Okay. I'm from the planet Rudrig, which is so obviously not in the same solar system as Earth. The system it belongs to is in a galaxy that you only know as fantasy."
She blinks, because really? That wasn't exactly what she was expecting. Of course, after meeting Michael, she shouldn't...So she blinks for a minute, then smiles slightly ruefully.
"And here I've been giving Keelia shit about dating an alien..." She tilts her head. "I would know of your galaxy in fantasy?"
"Well, technically I'm an alien, since I was born on another planet, but I am human." He chuckles, his grin wry. "And, yes. A lot of people know of my galaxy as the location of a few science fiction movies that seems to be really popular. I believe they begin A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away...."
[am off to bed, lovey. Will be around tomorrow a bit in the morn then tomorrow eve after work. *hugs*]
"Well, the movies are a little off on what really happened, but yes. For the most part those places, that galaxy is real."
He's watching her closely, now, trying to gauge her reaction.
"My parents were older than most when they had me and never got to see me graduate. By then the Empire had a pretty good hold on things, yet I didn't realy notice until they raided the hospital I worked at. I defected to the Rebel Alliance and joined their medical corps." Beat. "...I was at the Battle of Endor."
He chuckles. "Sort of. Actually, I was on the medical frigate during the space battle. And this is where the weird starts. I'm alergic to bacta - that pink stuff that Luke floats in at the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back? It's a sorta cure-all medicine that's highly advanced."
Wry smile, "this means that if I got hurt badly, I couldn't be healed with bacta. They had to replace whatever damaged part of me with a cybernetic implant. I got the first of my implants after the Battle of Endor. An attack on the frigate super-heated a beam and it hit me. I woke up two weeks later with half my face and one of my legs as mechanical replacements."
He sighs and shakes his head. "That's because they aren't. Not anymore."
He looks sad, as his thoughts dwell on the past. "After Endor I ended up becoming a starfighter pilot. I ended up as an X-Wing jockey in Wraith Squadron, Wedge Antilles' then-latest venture. By that point in my life, I was one-fifth mechanical and gaining."
He sighs heavily. "This is where it gets even stranger...to make a really long story short, I was killed during one of the missions. All I remember is seeing the starlit sky with the Iron Fist hovering in the heavens...and then a brief moment of pure calm and then bam! I'm sitting on a beach in L.A."
He takes a long pull from his glass. "I was shot down during the mission, hit a few trees and suffered horrbly internal injuries. Because the mission was an undercover one, and we had no outside support, I was pretty much shit out of luck. Even if...if my wingmate had been able to get me back to base..."
"Well, I, for one am grateful. I mean, it must suck to be stuck on a planet that's not yours, but..." She shrugs, gives him a rueful smile. "If you'd stayed dead, I'd never have met you."
He grins. "I like your planet. I may not have the option to travel the galaxy, but you seem to have enough going on to keep a man happy." He returns the squeeze. "And I'm glad that I had the chance to meet you. You make me forget that I have a home that I can never return to."

"They don't...look mechanical? Not Darth Vader-ish at all."
