I love the personal ramble. All I can say is: do it do it do it do it do it. DO. IT. And do it NOW. (no long plans, no sitting around waiting for the inspiration, just open Word and start typing today). I can relate to all of what you said, especially the part about chickening out and destroying the whole thing just when you gathered the courage to go ahead with it (it hasn't happened to me when sims-story is in question, but I've had that experience many time elsewhere).
Don't be afraid. Firstly, the community is INCREDIBLY welcoming. I've never had this kind of experience and I still can't get used to it tbh. Secondly, take a look at other sims stories and you'll see they've all only gotten better with time. So, when you start feeling insecure with the chapters you post (like I happen to be feeling now), don't dwell on it, but work on the next one instead to mend the damage through that.

Also, maybe what I said in the note to the chapter can help you too. Maybe you shouldn't even try to make your first chapter great. Maybe you should just quickly write it and post it as it is, just to set your own expectations of yourself to a manageable level. You know, when you think "I don't really like this chapter but I'll do better next time" even before you post it, you can't go into a panic attack 5 hours later and delete the thing because you've "realized" it "sucks".

So, how is this for a ramble? ;D
And thanks a lot. :)
