I Am Happy About:
- "Friday Night Lights" ~ FINALLY got a best drama series nomination, though I'm sure that's all they'll get (just the nomination), and they got it because they are ending... still, I think they deserve to win. I really, truly do. Also glad Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton got their well-deserved nominations, but again, don't think they're going to clinch those awards. Alas. DItto for the writing award - so happy they got the nomination, not holding my breath for the win.
- "Justified" acting noms - specifically Timothy Olyphant and Margo Martindale, who I thought were so bloody fantastic, everyone else should just remove themselves from consideration and go home. Won't happen though. Timothy probably has no chance of winning, but Margo might stand a shot... I certainly hope so, because she was just electrifying. She truly was.
- "The Good Wife" acting noms - for Christine Baranski and Alan Cumming, who I think steal every scene they are in, and are my favorite parts of the show. I'm actually a bit over Archie Panjabi, and while I've grown to appreciate the skills of Julianna Marguiles, I don't understand the nom for Josh Charles. He's amiable enough, I guess, but he doesn't really inspire me with adoration the way CB and AC do. I actually feel like he comes off looking like a lightweight in their company...
- "The Killing" noms - love that Michelle Enos and Michelle Forbes got nominated, as well as the nominations for writing for the pilot, directing, casting, all of it. It's one of those rare shows that exceeds what television usually is and shows what it can be. Yes, it's slowly paced, and maybe not the most thrilling, melodramatic showcase out there, but it's refreshingly different, with phenomenal writing and acting. That said, I wouldn't give it the win (though Michelle Forbes will give Margo Martindale a run for her money - I hope MM wins), but I'm glad it got nominated.
 - "Raising Hope" acting noms - Martha Plimpton and Cloris Leachman are fabulous and totally deserving. Should have been nom'ed for best comedy series too, and I think Garret Dillahunt should have pulled a surprise nom too, but I understand why he didn't.
- Dot Marie Jones on "Glee" - she rocks. nothing more to say about that. I honestly hope she wins, though I don't know if she will, with such a tough crowd of fellow nominees.
- nominations for "Downton Abbey" - though I'm not sure why it's a miniseries and not a drama series, but whatever. Would have given a nom to Hugh Bonneville myself, but glad Elizabeth McGovern got one anyway. and Maggie Smith. And the director and the writer. and everything else! :D

Not So Happy With:
- Any nominations for "Mad Men" or "Modern Family" - sorry, I just find both shows horrendously overrated, and it seems like there are so many other better possible nominees out there who deserve a chance.
- Kathy Bates for "harry's law" - really? I love her, but really? Come ooooooon.... Same goes for Mariska Hartigay - though I don't have feelings about her one way or another, just her show. How much acting does one REALLY have to do on a L&O show? With the exception of L&O: CI of course, where Vincent D'Onofrio acted the hell out of everything...
- Nominations for "Boardwalk Empire" - I didn't see it, but from the reviews I read, it really doesn't deserve a lot of the accolades it's gotten. Couldn't it's noms have gone to some broadcast/network show more deserving?

I think that's everything. I'm sure I'll be much more UNhappy when the night itself rolls around, but I'll try not to get emotionally invested, and thus not so angry every time Mad Men or Modern Family wins something.

Looking forward to seeing Mildred Pierce now. I guess they're going to beat "Downton Abbey" in all the miniseries/movie categories. Sigh. They shouldn't. I haven't even seen MP yet, and I feel that way. Downton Abbey kicks ass!!

Best Drama Series
Will Win: Mad Men. Duh.
Should Win: Friday Night Lights.

Best Comedy Series
Will Win: Modern Family. Duh.
Should Win: Raising Hope, but it wasn't nominated, so I'll say... Parks & Rec perhaps?

Drama - Best Actor
Will Win: Jon Hamm, Mad Men
Should Win: Timothy Olyphant, Justified

Drama - Best Actress
Will Win: tough race, so I'm not sure... probably Elizabeth Moss of "Mad Men" ? I like her, so I'd accept that...
Should Win: Connie Britton, Friday Night Lights, I guess, or Michelle Enos, The Killing

Drama - Best Supporting Actor
Will Win: Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones (so I hear)
Should Win: Alan Cumming, The Good Wife

Drama - Best Supporting Actress
Will Win: either Michelle Forbes, The Killing or Margon Martindale, Justified, I bloody well hope
Should Win: Margo Martindale. She was unbelievable, and Forbes can always win it next year

Drama - Best Guest Actor
Will Win: Michael J. Fox, The Good Wife
Should Win: as far as I'm concerned, it's Fox's. He rocks on that show, and he's the most notable of the nominees, as far as I can tell.

Drama - Best Guest Actress
Will Win: I have absolutely no idea - they all seem like they have a chance, and I haven't seen most of them
Should Win: Mary McDonnell, The Closer, cause she's AWESOME on that show, and cause she's about the only nominee that I've actually seen....Alfre Woodard is pretty cool on "True Blood" too though... doubt she'd win though.

Drama - Writing
Will Win: Matthew Weiner, Mad Men - "The Suitcase" , though he doesn't deserve it cause I've heard HORRIBLE stories about how he treats people, and no person that mean to others should get awards. There are ways to be brilliant and still be nice to people. Or at least not horrible.
Should Win: Jason Katims, Friday Night Lights - "Always". This guy created an AWESOME show and he deserves an award for this.

Drama - Directing
Will Win: Martin Scorsese, Boardwalk Empire, probably. How could they not?
Should Win: Patti Jenkins, The Killing - Pilot.

Comedy - Best Actor
Will Win: Steve Carell, The Office
Should Win: Jim Parsons or Jonny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory

Comedy - Best Actress
Will Win: Probably Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie again. They love her.
Should Win: Martha Plimpton, Raising Hope, or Amy Poheler, Parks & Recreation, just cause Sina loves her. ;)

Comedy - Best Supporting Actor
Will Win: Probably one of the Modern Family Guys
Should Win: Probably one of the Modern Family Guys.

Comedy - Best Supporting Actress
Will Win: I have no idea. One of the Modern Family Gals? Not Jane Lynch. It's not her fault they wrote her character horribly this year, but they did, and as a result, the character was destroyed....
Should Win: Betty White, Hot In Cleveland, of course!

Comedy - Best Guest Actor
Will Win: I have no idea....Probably either WIll Arnett, 30 Rock or Justin Timberlake, Saturday Night Live - they love giving this to him, don't they?
Should Win: Uh, either Matt Damon, 30 Rock, or Idris Elba, The Big C, cause they are coooool cats

Comedy - Best Guest Actress
Will Win: Probably either Cloris Leachman, Raising Hope or Gwenyth Paltrow< Glee
Should Win: Either Cloris Leachman, Raising Hope or Dot Marie Jones, Glee

Comedy - Writing/Directing
Don't know enough about the category to comment on either of these

So yes, I imagine I will be very disappointed/frustrated on the night itself. I always watch JUST IN CASE there is an upset, and then there never is. So we'll see what I do this year. I honestly don't know yet.

For my annual rant on the Cable vs. Broadcast/Network disparity in the Emmy nominations, please go here, the blog no-one-reads-cause-I-haven't-told-anyone-about-it I randomly created under a pseudonym for to rant about television and movie related stuff, so that you guys wouldn't have to deal with eighteen-page long rants on this journal here... which I never remember to update anymore.

And that's all I've got for now...

My cat is staring at me. Apparently I am not very entertaining.
