we can exclude malaria contracted during the Peninsula Campaign as the cause of WHW moving from I/32d MVI to F/11th VRC
according to the unit history(The Story of the 32d Massachusetts Infantry by [Col.] Francis J Parker; Boston:1880 CW Calkins), the regiment's 3d battalion (Cos I-M) was forming in Lynnfield while the other 8 companies were on the Peninsula. Still, "for weeks over one-third of the command was on the sick list and not less than a hundred and fifty men who then left the Regiment either for the hospital or on sick leave, never returned to our colors." [Parker, op cit pg 51]
