Flying down to see my Dad for his 86th I tried to avoid baggage mishaps by using carry-on only. Unfortunately, I forgot about the every carries on my key ring. So, thanks to the Security Kabuki at Mobile last weekend, I am now out the Victorinox penknife I had carried for 20 years (I took the opportunity to mail it to myself so I need to file a lost item claim w/USPS; after what I saw at one facility last year, I doubt the knife will show up). FWIW, my Gerber Artisan passed after I threw out the X-Acto blade)
I understand the logic of picking out the middle aged (okay, senior) white guy. I even get shifting the rules. But because the policies are implemented by morons, we are no safer for the inconvenience and indignities.
