I have a beautiful ikebana vase, beautifully and carefully crafted. It has three "straws" (for lack of the correct term) and is a minor work of art on its own. I can't count the number of times I've put three flowers or greens into the straws, but nothing looks as nice as the vase on its own. Sigh.
