Purchased Today:
1973 Mercury Cougar
Pros:
Original 351 Cleveland V8 engine (250-280hp)
Original Ford Boss Transmission
Dash and interior in good condition
Nice seat covers in front
Really cool body, excellent chrome
3 stage turning signals
Excellent Brakes
Excellent Acceleration
Cons:
Ugly Paint, Original Paint was sanded off and it was never repainted, so its this weird rust colored primer with ugly stripes and light patches where work was done.
Original Seats are torn and need to be restuffed and sewn.
Driver's side door sags
Window on driver's side is loose, needs wool arc to tighten.
Needs new engine + transmission mounts, cheap and easy to fix.
Needs new shocks, no big deal.
Side view mirrors are not original and mounts are broken, need to be glued.
Some Rust in trunk, I'm already working on it and have spray on rubber for it.
Stereo needs to be plugged in.
One of the rear lights needs to be wired.
The engine isn't tuned, so it has black exhaust and leaks gasoline out the exhaust, tuning is really quick though, and very cheap.
Looks like a lot of crap, but its very fun to work on and very cheap and easy to fix.
Purchased for $1000
Price to fix and restore $1000-1500
Final sell price after fixing (expected):$5000-7000
