[The transmission opens to some short breaths, Tomokai's been running. She drops to the floor with a soft thud and if you listen closely, you may be able to hear her mumbling "get it together" in Japanese. After a long while, there's a shaky breath and Tomokai's voice comes in, calm and clear with a near-perfect north-London accent ( Read more... )

That's right.

This isn't London. You're in a 'city' called Discedo.

Discedo?

Is there... any more of an explanation?

Yes.

I've not been here for very long either, but you better adapt quickly to your new environment. The refugees here are very nice and willing to help, though.

I should be fine once I catch my bearings. I've managed to get indoors, at least.

Thanks for your help. You speak very good Japanese, by the way.

Yeah, but be careful. It's not particularly safe indoors either, depending on where you are. Might even get more difficult to navigate around the monsters, so keep your guard up.

You're welcome. And thanks. I haven't spoken Japanese in a while; but this place and its inhabitants are helping me to brush up on it again.

For that matter, your English is impeccable as well. You even got an accent. What's your native language?

It's an apartment building, I've yet to see anything out of the ordinary but... I'm armed and I run quite fast.

Oh, thank you! Japanese is my first language, but I've been living in England a few years now, I guess it's only natural I pick up an accent after a while..

Hn. The apartments should be safe; but you never know.

Oh, that's what I thought. Did you pick up and master the language in just a few years? That's quite amazing. Considering how needlessly convoluted English can be at times.

.. By the way. What's your name?

Well, It's standard to learn some English in school, but a lot of it turns out to be quite useless. Total immersion puts you on quite a learning curve, however.

Ah, I'm Tomokai. And you are...?

I agree. That's the most effective and fastest way to learn a language.

I'm Jack. Nice meeting you, Tomokai.
