BTW, I just wanted to have a music on this post, so I started my player just for that purpose just now. XP
I found this nifty thing where you can create colorbars for LJ users. XD I started doing it for a few, but then I didn't want to leave people out so I did it for a whole bunch of people. It's in alphabetical order, so no favoritism here :P It seems like this thing is screwing up, since trying to see others' it would display mine instead >_< Here's the URL if you want to try it:
http://plutonium.bottlerockethosting.com/~pseudomonas/love.fpl Oh, and I also got my heart shard theme stamps some time ago:
First, let me tell you I was expecting Curiosity from the first time I even heard the idea of the theme. Seriously. I'm the poster child of curiosity, because I ask so many dang questions so relentlessly and just how much knowledge gives me a rush. XD I would have honestly been shocked if I hadn't.
But I was not expecting to get Love. To be honest, because of the connotation Love was given in the series, it was purely a romantic, shoujo-y love that Kraehe and Tutu fought over. To be honest, the Love shard itself really just stood there and decided who to dance with. It really didn't seem like a loving shard to me, I'm sorry, I don't care what the symbolism says. Therefore, it just really didn't occur to me that Love itself, not just what it was in the series, might match me. But not only was it the result, it was unanimous. O_O Well, after seeing what everybody said I can see why. I do care about people a lot, and want them to be happy and not suffer. That's why medicine appeals to me as a job. But as that job implies, you don't just love one person, but many people. It's not really an individualistic love like romantic love is, but something more philanthropic I suppose. But I suppose I was glad that so many people would not see my lack of romanticism as being not loving in another way.
On another note, because of the lovely anime club where I'm going to school right now I'm watching/watched a few new anime shows/movies:
* Interstella 5555
* The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
* Blood Stained Angel Dokuro-chan (I can't remember the Japanese name)
* Darker than Black
* Nodame Cantabile
* Mushishi
* Hayate the Combat Butler
* Death Note (2nd arc)
Interstella: There's something awesome about this. XD An hour-long music video of an alien band that gets abducted (oh the irony). Has the Galaxy Express distinctive animation style. One thing I liked about it was the imagination and the positive attitude I got from it that wasn't too shallow (well, the villain's kinda outrageous but at least it's sorta funny).
Leapt Through Time: I actually wanted to see this before but although it was interesting throughout the plot twist at the end and how they resolved it really didn't do it for me. It didn't really make any sense, yet they tried to make it all meaningful and symbolic. :/ It was definitely an interesting concept, but it really wasn't in my taste after all.
Dokuro-chan: Seriously. This show was just hard to watch. >_< Inane, stupidly bloody, faux cute, inane, mindless and stereotype-confirming (did I mention inane?) One thing I hated most of all was its lack of empathy and just casualness about torturing people. The main character Dokuro, an "angel", feels she can go ahead and torture anyone she wants to get what she wants. And of course the show puts it in a context where we need to laugh at it. >_< I'm sorry...I won't laugh at someone turning people into animals (permanently) or hurting people. More like I wanted to kill her most times. I was so glad when the show was done (only 4 eps! phew).
Darker: Seems interesting; I want to know the secret behind the wall and their world. But somehow it hasn't exactly captivated me like for others. I mean, it has the potential to be very interesting, sure. I've only watched the first 5 eps though and it's a little slow going past the episodic elements, so maybe it's taking a while. Maybe I'm a little jaded since I've watched shows that start out interesting but then just fizzle. >_< Or maybe I'll like it but it's not entirely my taste so it's not a fav? *shrug*
Nodame: Lighthearted. Music. Funny. I like so far. :) Again, maybe not a favorite, but I enjoy watching it and genuinely laugh at bits. I don't really like Nodame, but I don't really like people of her personality type in general anyway. I wonder who will have what instruments? (They introduce players as eps go along, which reminds me of shounen and that's kinda awesome XD )
Mushishi: Ginko reminds me of a cool, kind doctor. XD He's sorta soft-spoken, but knowledgeable and also really caring about both people and these creatures called Mushi. I dunno if I'm a fan of the setting (I personally prefer fantasy/modern/future settings), which is olden Japanese style, but it's a very gentle, pensive series. Sometimes it can be very sad, but it's in a way I think I can accept, at least. I made the comparison to someone with a terminal disease (although the situation was considerably different), and that sort of feeling. This show actually made me think about what kind of mindset you need to be a doctor, which I guess makes it interesting to me XD
Hayate: Okay with a capital O. I do find it funny at times (it uses censored company names and pop culture references XD ), and the characters are cute. (Somehow Hayate's hair color keeps confounding me ^^;; Well, there's a pink haired girl, but...) Although, for all the dispelling of cliches it tries to do, it sometimes still comes off as a bit ordinary at times. Dunno.
Death: Hahaha. I've been inducted. XD Now I haven't even seen the beginning of the series; the first one I saw was the last ep of the 1st arc before the sorta recap ep. So yeah, I missed what I've heard people say is the best part of the series. ^^;; But even now I think I find it very interesting for some odd reason. It's not even a show I'd think I'd like, but I think it's just all the intrigue and human psychology that makes it appealing. Also, the genuine darkness of it without trivializing it at all (like as opposed to Dokuro >_< ).
lithele, do you have the 1st season stashed anywhere? Maybe during winter break I could watch it and see whether the 1st season really is better or not XD
*looks back at what I wrote* Quick blurbs. That's my 'quick blurbs'. XD;;;; I should get back to work now.
