Just heard this week from ALLALOM Music that their long-delayed compilation cd We Make Our Own Mistakes, Volume One should be out by the end of April! More information, including a full track listing, has been posted here.

A quick note about the April 24th show: CarpetofSexy will not be playing. Locrian will be playing in their stead.

Every so often, I try to make an update and just talk about stuff I'm listening to lately. Myspace has actually made this a lot easier, and lately a lot of really interesting bands have contacted me. Here are a few of them, in no particular order:

freeze etch: Bloomington, IN-based solo electronics artist creating beautiful and varied music with amazing textures.

Torsion Fields: The way I always wanted "space rock" to sound when I would hear the phrase, not really rock music at all but something that evoked the romantic ideal of space. Gorgeous, and getting better all the time.

Hobert Europe: Serious about ass-shakin, amazing breakcore with a sense of humor. Not afraid to do a cool synthpop instrumental now and again (see "song for brandon").

STAR: Scott Cortez (of lovesliescrushing and astrobrite, among others) recorded a bunch of stuff and gave it to Shannon Roberts, and the result is an amazing shoegaze nuclear meltdown. SEE THEM LIVE.

LS-TTL: Excellent Cold Meat-style darkambient from sunny California.

Glowworm: Glowworm zigzags between ambient IDM and shoegaze/post-rock, a great combination that results in very pretty songs with more going on than you might catch on first listen.

children's guide to marine life: Gorgeous, evocative instrumentals that are difficult to classify. A solo project, Aroon is also a member of the equally-intriguing Arm & Leaf (and pulsar47, who I still need to check out). I find myself visiting these two pages over and over to listen to these tracks.

There are some more, I'll get to them next time. As it is, I've been sitting on this news entry for a couple of days so I better just post it! Thanks for your time!
