Notes/Babbling: Quick update before I have to run. Also? Weekly JUMP is stupid and I hate them because they make me read way too much manga. Oh, and! OMG, I need more TezuFuji fic. +__+

- Fullmetal Alchemst - Hands / Warmth by Bri - Hands: Roy Mustang learned long ago that Edward Elric had a certain way of doing things, and that those ways were not to be tampered with. What I love about this story is that it captures a lot of different sides of Ed, gets at more than just the temper he has or the angst he has--not that it forgets about those, either, that it made the character a little bit more three-dimensional and just... it struck at that love I have for Ed, the kind that makes my fangirl heart hurt for the character, and all Ed has to do is be particular about which way his pillow is facing to make me want to hug him and never let go. My heart hurts for the young man who makes sure certain little things are done a certain little way every day and never makes a big deal out of them, just does them.
Warmth: Their tongues fought brutally in some battle of who worshipped who more, scraping over teeth, the roofs of mouths, each other and the younger man felt his skin catch on fire. The author has this lovely, lovely way of writing that is one of my favorites, especially when it comes to lime-ish/lemon scenes. It's beautiful language without being overly flowery or too much, is still hot and gorgeous, but also inspires that *___* reaction in me. She also never lets go of the intensity of the characters and I just... I can't say enough positive about the fic, even when I'm running out of adjectives to describe how happy the fic makes me. *___* There are a handful of authors that I look forward to fic for in this fandom and this author has definitely become one of them. (Roy/Ed, the second one probably isn't work safe.)
- One Piece - Driving Curiosity by meethzoonk - You know, I'd feel worse for a story about Sanji stumbling over Luffy and Nami together (not that they're doing anything, they're just sort of hanging out in the same room together, but it's the way they're doing it, the way they're laughing or Nami's not smacking him out of the room or Luffy's settling down a little that raises Sanji's hackles and made me really like the lack of a sledgehammer here, it works better this way, feels much more in the style of One Piece for me), except that I like to kick him over to the swordsman, so. But, yes. This is a nicely done fic for the way it portrays Luffy and Nami's friendship/relationship from Sanji's eyes, the way it affects him, the way he wonders a little, none of it being too obvious or too much, still managing to make me believe it. Sanji's characterization is nice and I'd really like to see more of this fic. <3 (Luffy/Nami, but faint for now.)
- Samurai Champloo - Reflection by technoelfie - Jin doesn't like mirrors for fear that one day he'll look and find himself faded. But sometimes he likes seeing himself reflected in her eyes, which are large and dark and the only truly pretty thing about her. I was wondering how this story was going to hold up for me over a bit of time, if it would still strike me the same way a month or so after I first read it and having stumble across it again recently, I went to reread it... and it does. My favorite thing about it is that it's not particularily nice, but it's not particularily mean, either. It's not devoid of feeling, there's quite a lot of feeling, especially when Jin is fucking Fuu and she's being her usual bright, cheerful self, and he's not exactly sure what to feel, but it's not angst or pining or over the top. It's something a bit like weary, but not exactly. And it's perfect for Samurai Champloo. Gorgeous characterization. (Jin/Fuu, R to NC-17-ish.)
- House - Six Ways of Looking at Chase by !Super Cat - So, Amanda points this fic out to me and, of course, that means I have to go read. Yes, it's labelled House/Chase, but if you're not a fan of House slash or the pairing, don't let that stop you, because it's not really very obvious, I would have read it as gen if not for the label. (And I kind of read it as gen anyway. >__>) I. Loved. This. The dialogue is spot-on for the characters and, man, Chase was just so absolutely, vividly clear here, the dynamic with House, even the brilliant insight into the other Hot Young Doctors (the observations about Foreman cracked me up), not just getting the mannerisms of the character down, but really getting the sharp damage they have without being obvious about it. This is another one of those stories that could have come from straight out of an episode if I hadn't known better, the interaction is just that pitch-perfect. Plus! OMG, good Chase fic! Six different ways of looking at Chase and they're all fabulous. And House was brilliant. Just... that brilliant edge to him was so very there. I am incoherent with love. (No warnings/pairings.)
- Cowboy Bebop - Seeing by Sabine - All he has is that place, the world behind his false eye, the past bottled up. Nothing binds him there; he comes and leaves as he pleases. A beautiful little Bebop ficlet that manages to capture the character of Spike so perfectly that I just ache to read it. The Spike/Faye is just perfect, the way it has to be in a fic like this, there, but impossible. The striking imagery of the piece is marvelous, as is the way the world changes when Spike closes his eyes. This reminds me so very strongly of Bebop itself. (Some light Spike/Faye.)
- Bleach - The Cactus and the Cake by Triste - Ishida and Ichigo arguing and being snarky and funny with each other! Really, how much more can I ask for from Bleach fic? >D Triste really does well with the snappy, sharp dialogue between these characters, the way they argue, but you can still get a sense of... something-not-quite-hate underneath and, oh, darling Ishida is such a DORK and I love him and his retardation so much. Plus, Ichigo is Ichigo and I totally adored Rukia at the end here and the dialogue is so snappy and I could just picture this and it was just FUN. ....god, apparently any ability to write a decent rec has been sucked out of me lately. You go read the fic now or I keel j00. There. How's that? ^_~ (Ishida/Ichigo, but very, very mild.)
- Cardcaptor Sakura - First Love's Shrine by Harukami - An absolutely adorable CCS fic with Touya being an absolute delight to read--whether he was being sorta nice to Sakura with the pictures or whether he was being evil and teasing her like a good big brother or just being Touya with Yukito--and Sakura being her absolutely adorable and SO CUTE self and just... happy, cute, fluffy CCS fic that really hits the tone of the series. Plus, the ending is GREAT. Loved this so much. ♥ (Sakura-->Yuki, faint Touya/Yuki, but could have nearly been gen.)
