- Prince of Tennis/Get Backers - [ Japanese Fan Art Site ] - There are several things that impressed me about this site. One is the way the artist draws Fuji, she draws him so cute, and his eyes are these pretty colors that stand out so vividly. There's one of him and Tezuka where his eyes are open and my gaze just kept being drawn back to Fuji's eyes because they were so bright, but in a lovely way. The second is that she draws absolutely adore TezukaFuji/FujiEiji illustrations, very cute and sweet and just fun. Though, my favorite is a sort of group illustration of Ryoma, Fuji, Tezuka, and Eiji that's just... wow, it looks so effing cool! She has a strong sense for colors and some of them are just lovely to look at. I really liked this site! ^____^
With the Get Backers part of the site, I was really impressed because the colors get even better and you can just tell that she had a lot of fun drawing Kazuki and Juubei. I love the way she drew Kazuki's hair especially. ^_^v As for the Yuu Yuu Hakusho fanart... I could swear this person is a doujinshika--I would probably be more surprised if she weren't than if she were. Her illustrations are very strong, the shading and colors done well, the lines very strong and clean, and everything just seems to point that she's got a lot of skill. Plus... EEEEE!! SO CUTE! It's been awhile since I've come across a good YYH site, so it's wonderful to spend a bit of time with these characters again. (TezukaFuji, FujiEiji, Juubei+Kazuki, Hiei+Kurama.)
- Get Backers - Darie [ Japanese Fan Art Site ] - Ooooh, this artist's GB work is so cool--the first couple of illustrations I saw were just downright adorable, the kind that make you squeak and want to bounce happily around the room. She does these great things with colors, very soft and almost muted, but not washed out, so they look really cool. Ginji in pjs lying across Ban's lap, who's also in his pjs, is, hands down, my very favorite on the site, but I also just adore the one of chibi-Kazuki and chibi-Juubei, too. Geh. This rec sucks, but the site is wonderful, definitely one of those that makes me happy I wandered through it. ^_____^ (Some light BanxGinji and Juubei+Kazuki.)
- Get Backers - Acid Gale [ Japanese Fan Art Site ] - Ooh, I like this artist's use of color, very pretty tones, and she draws Kazuki really well, you can tell how much she genuinely adores the character. Plus, her chibi-Kazuki and chibi-Juubei illustrations are just adorable and make me want to hug them all over again. XD What I also like about the artist is the way she draws and colors the characters' hair, it makes it look so soft and full and almost glossy, which is a really neat effect. She also drew this great illustration of a drunk Kazuki leaning onto an annoyed Shido and I *heart* that one so much. XD Oh! Oh! And neko!chibi-Kazuki and neko!chibi-Juubei were just too adorable for words. *_* (Some Juubei+Kazuki.)
- Spiral - [ Japanese Fan Art Site ] - You know, I clicked onto this site completely randomly (from a YYH page, I think) without meaning to, but I'm very glad I did because a) it gives me a starting point for Spiral fanart (whenever the heck I finally finish watching the series) and b) because the art is really very pretty. The artist seems to especially have fun drawing Eyes and KanonexEyes, but I find myself drawn to her group illustrations the most, because they're just wonderful. The colors are bright without being gaudy, soft without being washed out, and they're nicely detailed. (KanonexEyes.)
- The Authority - Every Now and Then by Anne Marsh - I don't normally read songfics for the reason most people don't read songfics, but with a fandom as small as The Authority's, I'll give a lot more fics a chance than I might otherwise have. And I'm glad that's true, because I would have missed this nice little fic that... was just right for my mood. I've been lightly flirting with comicdom again lately and this was just the right length and tone to help that along. That and I just liked the lines: Maybe a night of being more than held. And why not? The chemicals released to the brain after sex helped to combat depression, and sex with Apollo beat 60 mg of Prozac any day. (Apollo/Midnighter.)
- The Authority - The Waiting Room by Andraste - For some reason... the last few paragraphs of this fic hit me especially hard, though, I'm not sure why. The entire fic is well-written and I adore a good Midnighter POV, and I really liked the feel of this little scene set just before they become Apollo and Midnighter. It... feels right, like this could very well be what really happened just before, the way they used to be before becoming super-heroes. I also liked the little bit of light, funny conversation they got in, and the writing is wonderful. All in all, a great little addition to the fandom for such a great little series. (Some slight Apollo/Midnighter.)
- Love Mode - Sunlight by Ju - You know, I honestly didn't ever expect to see a Love Mode fanfic. And certainly not Haruomi/Kiichi-sensei. But I am terribly glad to stumble over this fic, because, dude. I wanted Love Mode fic, like, a lot. And Ju really did the series justice, the light tone she set felt right for the series and especially these characters. The light touch of humor was nice, too, since Kiichi-sensei definitely has a wicked streak of that. So, yeah, it was a nice start to what I hope will be a developing fandom. (Haruomi/Kiichi.)
- Spiral - W.QUAKE [ Japanese Fan Art Site ] - You know, there are some series/characters that really look good done in a CG style and some that don't. (Though, I'm fond of anyone who can do it well.) Eyes is one of those characters who just looks really good done in the CG style, it really seems to fit him. And what I liked so much about this artist is that the style she uses makes him almost seem to glow with a soft light, his eyes also such a vivid color. And while it's pretty all on its own, what really made me like it was that it fit the character so well. Plus, lots of art here! *sparkles* (Some shounen ai.)
