Bleach: In The Margins by rii_no_ame - I clicked on this fic randomly, just curious to see what kind of author and fic I would get when I saw there was a new Byakuya/Hisana fic. And this was a beautifully written piece, very graceful and almost delicate in the way Byakuya first catches Hisana's attention, the way she catches his attention, and the little details to how their relationship progressed. I love how much happiness there is here, in what's still a tragic story in so many ways, how much real love there was between them even as she could never let go of thoughts of Rukia. It was a beautiful piece, heartbreaking in all the right ways, and it made me dearly wish for, idk, reincarnation fic because fic like this makes me want so much for these two. (Byakuya/Hisana.)
Calvin & Hobbes/Lilo & Stitch: What I Did On My Summer Vacation by amazingly_me - I try not to get too attached to crossover interactions, because it's not like there's going to be a ton of them or they'll ever happen on any sort of screen besides in fanfic, but. Sometimes they're just so amazing and perfect and wonderful that I can't help but be wistful. Lilo and Stitch running into Calvin and Hobbes, the perfection of these strongly defined kids playing together, including their weird animal friends, is just as delightful as the premise promised. It's just. Sheer fun and happiness and delight, it totally gives you that same bouncy feeling as when you're watching one of the movies. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)
Glee: Brittany & Finn - Hip-hop and Hippos by polychromic - Brittany and Finn is one of those pairings that... I'm never quite sure if I'm onboard with it or if I like them better with other people or what. But, oh, this fic totally sold me on their very weird and very spacey friendship that is completely, utterly adorable. And hilarious. So hilarious. I love how the author just nailed their voices and the little actions, making it so very easy to see it in your mind's eye and just. It made me wish I could see this for real on my screen every week. (It's Finn and Brittany, but this is gen.)
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e: untitled by Tammaiya - Okay, this is just a small ficlet on a post of a bunch of high school AU fics (well, actually, this one isn't necessarily AU, since they actually were in high school together) and yet. My fangirl heart wants to explode with love, so I had to rec it properly. It's just. Valentine's Day and Umeda's crazy kouhai stalker and chocolate and Akiha is the greatest crazy kouhai stalker ever and Umeda's so cranky and yet has zero self-preservation instincts and okay maybe he doesn't struggle as hard as he could and just. They are my forever OTP. (Akiha/Umeda.)
One Piece: FML by Tammaiya - [Note: There are SPOILERS for around the 600s in this fic and this rec.] One of the things that is always a delight in OP fandom is that Sanji's life is frequently hell. It never stops being funny! That he was sent to Kamabakka Island and that Iva-chan was too strong for him to beat and then, of course, she shows up again to make his life hell even after he gets back to regular society. I love Tammaiya's way of writing Sanji's difficult life and how he can't hide this awful secret (of where he's been) and how amazing her Iva-chan is. I love the character and I love the pitch-perfect way she writes the character here, too. This is hilarious and delightful fun and I sincerely, truly wish this were in the manga sometime. Or for the author to cough up the sequel eventually. +_+ (This is gen, but eventual Zoro/Sanji.)
- Arakawa Under the Bridge - [ Pixiv Account ] - I am breaking my usual rule for this site--the needing at least four images to justify a rec--because... well, frankly, I want to. There are two awesome Nino/Kou images (that one is them in formal wear that is delightfully cracky and amazingly pretty, as all Nino/Kou art should be) and then one of my favorites for Sister/Maria that's really gorgeous and just. a s;lfkjasl;j it's art like this that I kept seeing all over Pixiv that finally made me cave, because I had to know who these characters were! And they were just as awesome as promised. (Kou/Nino, Sister/Maria.)
&npbsp; - Bleach - [ Pixiv Account ] - I've been to Casa*N's site before and I always stop and look at her art whenever she posts a new one to Pixiv, but I don't think I've properly recommended the account yet? And I'll grant that her art is for established IchiHime fans, you're going to this site only if you're already a fan, I think? But if you are already a fan, some of this art is just so darling! I love Ichigo asleep on her lap and him giving Orihime a piggyback ride and back to back phone conversation and Ichigo sleeping on her in a really sweetly colored image and the awesomeness of a vampire image where Orihime is the vampire! (I want that as a fic so bad.) It's not for everyone, but if you like the ship, then this artist is kind of designed to get at your shipper heart, I think. There's real potential here and I smile brightly every time there's new art and I just. Feel full of sunshine and love right now. ♥ P.S. Magnet!RukiHime, fuck yeah, do want! (Ichigo/Orihime.)
- Final Fantasy VII - [ Pixiv Account ] - You know, Zack/Reno is one of those ships that you always kind of joke about doing something with because you know it would be hilarious, but you never really expect to find much for it. And then you come across an artist like this who catches your attention for cracky fun adventure images and then reels you in with the novelty of actual Zack and Reno art! Which I'm weak to, shut up. The artist has a cute, fun style and I love the concept of it, of course, I'm weak to novel things, but also there's a Durarara!! ending credits style image with the FFVII characters (with a good focus on the ShinRa/Turks characters) and, yeah. I was pretty sunk as soon as I saw that. (Some Zack/Reno, some gen.)
- Final Fantasy VIII - [ Pixiv Account ] - This artist doesn't actually have a lot of art on their account, but there's no way I could resist finding pretty much any excuse to recommend an account that has the most awesome father's day image pretty much EVER. Squall, Tidus, Lagun, and Jecht. I took one look at it and pretty much could not stop laughing for the next five minutes because it hit me just perfect. The artist has a few more images of Laguna and Squall, often of the sketch or doodle variety, but I thought the account was also worth visiting for the alternate take on the characters which was cool to see. Also, I love Laguna with a passion. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Gundam Wing - [ Pixiv Account ] - I've been a fan of Sean-nos' Gundam Wing art for a long time and she's only gotten better with time and it still kind of amazes me to see her passion for this series is still going! And every so often I stumble over some of her newer pieces of art (Heero in a waiter's uniform? Why, yes, that was very nice of you!) and am really charmed at how good she's getting at anime cel-style images or how much I really like her Heero/Duo art or how much I really, really love her epic fantasy art. And that's the thing about this artist, why she's one of the classics of the fandom for me, because it's not just about ships or really solid detail she puts into her images, but also the sense of fun and that epic quality to the images and the feathery wings and bursts of light and all that stuff I eat up. ....okay and it's about the ships sometimes, too. I just can't say enough about how happy this artist makes me. ♥ (Some Heero/Duo, but some gen, too.)
- Gundam Wing - [ Pixiv Account ] - You know, sometimes I just want some goddamned GundamW art already. And every so often I come across this image of the GundamW girls on the beach in really cute summerwear and I love it each time. There's not much art here beyond that--aside from an adorable set of chibis and some cute gift-giving images with the traditional het pairings of the series and, honestly, like I said. Sometimes I just want some goddamned GundamW art already. (Hints of the traditional het pairings, but nothing major.)
- Gundam Wing - [ Pixiv Account ] - In the same vein as the previous rec I did (though, with a different set of ships, of course), sometimes I just want some goddamned GundamW art already... and then this artist came along and there was a really lovely image of Zechs that had some beautiful glossy coloring and some nice detail on his uniform. And then there was an even prettier one of Treize/Zechs that even included the red string all wound around Zechs and I was like. "....yes, plz." I really, really like this ship, but it's hard to find art for it, so when I see images this pretty (and the rest of the account has some really cute doodles and mini-comics) I kind of fall in love again. (Treize/Zechs.)
- Gundam Wing - [ Pixiv Account ] - There may be only four images on this artist's account, but they're all gorgeous. The artist especially likes doing these really beautiful, softly colored and nicely detailed group images, especially in more normal clothing or in fantasy style clothing or almost straight out of a shoujo splash page and it's a little hard not to stop and stare sometimes. There might not be a ton here, but the group feeling to everything is just fantastic. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Gundam Wing - [ Pixiv Account ] - This artist is a bit of an odd duck in that half of the art is joke art or little cracky doodles, but the other half is this really amazingly pretty art. There are two images especially that stand out with her--one of Heero and Relena and one of Heero and Duo--and both are just fantastic. The sharp lines, the excellent shading, the attention to detail, they're all really the kind of thing that gets me revved up for fandom again! Though, I also appreciate the Quatre image and the Relena solo image and the Duo solo image, because they're all beautiful as well. It might not be a big site, but it's one of those little gems that I'm glad to have found. (Nothing consistent enough to warn for.)
- Pokemon - [ Pixiv Account ] - There's not a ton of art here, I know. But I can't help it, okay? The artist has that kind of style that I'm really weak to in the Pokemon fandom, where the use of green is especially nice and there's some really adorable group images (that one of the DPP trio is especially fun) and I'm just. Really weak to that kind of thing!
