ARASHI: untitled by Circe - [Note: There are two fics on this post, I'm just going to rec them both together.] You know, no matter how busy my day is or how much I'm off and running in another fandom, I always have time to stop and read Circe's fics because I love her characterization and humor that much. I love the first fic, that it's just Ohno fiddling around with Nino's DS and, of course, it totally goes about how you'd expect, once you stop and think about it. Poor, poor Nino. His life is so hilariously hard. So it's Ohno's, really. And the second one is just. as;ldjkfa;lksjlj I love her. (Ohmiya for the first, Nino/other for the second.)
ARASHI: Moleymagic, a Psychic-type... by Aki - as;dflka;sdflk ahahahah omg Arashi and Pokemon! AKI LOVES US ALL. Especially when you consider how hard poor Jun's life is and how the various band members are worked into the fic and Sho is just so... as;dfklas;j,lk I love Sho with the intensity of a thousand suns. And all of them. ALL OF THEM ARE BEAUTIFUL. And so is Aki. ♥ (Implications of Ohmiya, Ohno/Sho, Aiba/Jun, etc.)
Bayonetta: untitled by moonsheen - So, I have this ginormous fondness for Luka from this game and I really do like the dynamic he had going on with Bayonetta by the end and this is totally how it would go. I lolled and lolled and lolled at poor Luka's life in this short ficlet. Delightful. ♥ (Sort of implied Bayonetta/Luka.)
Bayonetta: Lucky Luck by Mad Hatter 235 - Two things made this fic work for me. The first was that I really wanted post-game Bayonetta/Luka and this fic was kind enough to provide me that! And, second, I love that Luka's kind of awesome and pathetic at the same time, yet no matter how awesome he is, Bayonetta is still way more awesome than he is and he knows it. I like that she kept her attitude here, even when she was being a little softer. (Bayonetta/Luka.)
Bayonetta: A Witch's Black Cat by Mad Hatter 235 - Another fic set post-game where Bayonetta gets to be more awesome than everyone else just by existing! And then there's the introduction of a cute little kitty and Bayonetta pouting at only having a few angels to destroy and being so delightful sure of herself in her awesome ways and a cute scene with Luka and the kitty she dumps in his lap. I could really see this and it was a really fun little read this morning. (Bayonetta/Luka.)
Durarara!!: Getting Ahead and Falling Behind 1/? - by noetma - I admit, I picked this one up for the mentions of Shizuo and Izaya at the end but wound up with a story that's more about Shinra and Celty. I really liked the use of fairy tales woven into Shinra's ramblings and what he was working up towards saying and the way Celty reacted to all of it, there was a sort of... even in the crazy universe of DRRR!!, there's something almost gentle about these two and that came through nicely here. (Somewhat Shinra/Celty.)
Durarara!!: "Unreasonable" by urusai-lilania - Oh, I am starting to really like this author's take on these characters, especially this Izaya because he has this... this atmosphere about him, that's perfectly reasonable and rational, even when he's being a total bastard. I love how there's just this hint of whimsy to his narrative, this darker tone to it sometimes, all while seeming perfectly pleasant, at least until Shizuo shows up and then it's the usual choatic fighting. But even then, Izaya's voice is pleasant and it's at a contrast with his actions, which is perfect for the character. I love how he sees Shizuo, how he tries to affect him and Izaya manages it in some ways and doesn't manage it in other ways, how there's almost a gravitational force there, to pull him to Shizuo, yet it's also annoyance and irritation and hate. a s;dlfkjasljk shit, this is a terrible rec. Just go read the fic anyway. (This is gen, but if you like Shizuo/Izaya, you should like this.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Parallel by circles9 - This is only a short piece, but how could I resist a fic with Squalo and Hibari in it? It's a really sharp, interesting look on a brief glance between Squalo and Hibari as they assess each other, how they compare and contrast against each other, both of them all sharp angles and rough edges in different ways. I really love the language of this piece and the insight it showed into both characters. (No warnings/pairings.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: ASKJLF by vicious_lullaby - I think I must have missed this one previously because I don't remember reading it? Or, if I did, it's worth a reread because I love early-era stories where Dino is smitten with Hibari and tries to keep in contact with him and is basically the most hilarious dork ever when it comes to Hibari, who does not appreciate this. I really kind of laughed at all the ways Dino goes through phones, like they were breakable toys here. XD (Dino/Hibari.)
Kyou Kara Maou!: Visitation by moshesque - Do you know what I have a supreme weakness for? Sleepytime fic where one partner sneaks into the other's room and asks if they can stay there for awhile and then there's sleeping peacefully on each other. Add in the adorable tension between Conrad and Yuuri, as well as setting it from Conrad's POV so that you can really see the genuine gentle nature that covers a war-battened soldier, yet makes it fluffy like the show itself is. It's one of those scenes that could have just come straight out of the anime and I love it all the more for it. (Conrad/Yuuri.)
Kyou Kara Maou!: Surrendering to the Fall by moshesque - Oh, I love a fic that is all about the delicious tension between two characters that seems to go on forever, but in a really good way because you're rewarded for the wait at the end of the chapter. Even if it's a bittersweet ending, it's still a satisfying one and a hopeful one, if you want it to be. Even more than that, what I love about this fic is that it may start with Yuuri in a skirt, but that's not really the point or even what gets Conrad all worked up, it's the proximity that the skirt forces on them (in a surprisingly embarrassment squick-free sort of way!) and what snowballs downhill from there. And I really like this take on Conrad, how much he feels and how much he holds himself back, even when he's being honest with Yuuri. And I really like this Yuuri, who's surprisingly balanced and feels very on target with his character in the canon itself. I love a fic that's all about the delicious tension between characters that comes crashing to a head for both of them, that's as much about the emotional resolution as it is the physical. ♥ (Conrad/Yuuri.)
Professor Layton: Which Cup? by suspicious - So, I clicked onto this fic because it was labeled as Luke/Flora, but what I wound up really loving about it instead was the way the game mechanics were applied to their roles in the fic as well. The use of puzzles in their lives, the little touches of the puzzles popping up, even references to hints and guides. It was darling and a great read this afternoon, I totally think they would do something just like this. ♥ (Luke/Flora.)
Weiss Kreuz: Elusive by fireun - It's always interesting to see fics about characters with powers that have been worn out because of them, especially when they used to be such vibrant characters, but you have to write that kind of fic carefully or else it's just not that fun. Something about this fic was really interesting, though, especially set from Crawford's point of view, where he doesn't really show concern about it, except he sort of does at the same time. All the little things that go unsaid or the little touches the author puts in are very solidly, nicely done. (Crawford/Schuldich.)

Doujinshi (raw): Seishin Houkai Program - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be relatively easy to join.] This doujinshi is... it's really not going to be for everyone. It's not very nice sex, there's a lot of abuse and definitely potential humiliation/embarrassment squick in it, so I'm not precisely recommending it for the dynamic (even if it is Xanxus/Squalo, which isn't a nice pairing) or the sex, but instead for the art. Because, goddamn, are the opening pages of this doujinshi really kind of stunningly gorgeous! The artist draws these beautifully clean, slick lines that capture Amano's style really well, while making it even more polished and pretty to look at. I'd have snagged this doujinshi just for Squalo looking gorgeous, nevermind the sex with Xanxus. But, then, if you're into that sort of thing (rough sex) or can gloss over that part, this is a good one to grab. (Xanxus/Squalo, NC-17, loads of potential triggering warnings.)
Kyou Kara Maou! But I found it kind of hilarious in the way that Conrad enjoys teasing Yuuri but clearly is still ridiculously in love with him, even while trying to get him to be more dirty and lewd around Conrad. There's definitely a size difference between them and Yuuri is young, but, well, if you ship it, you get used to that. And I really liked the art of this one, it's solidly done and the sex was kinda hot, and just. CONYUU PORN YES. I LOVE IT. *__* (Conrad/Yuuri, NC-17.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): Tsukiyomi - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be freely joinable.] This is just a short little story of Zoro and Sanji drinking on a quiet night after the others have all passed out, talking about how Zoro doesn't seem to get drunk that much. But Zoro says even he gets drunk when he drinks and that he's a happy sort of drunk. Sanji is surprised by this and then it's just a sort of cute moment that ends it hilarity, only about ten pages' worth of story or so. It's silly and just one of those light-hearted moments with this crew and it was a fun read today. (Zoro/Sanji sort of implied?)
