TWO HOURS LATER, I was completely sucked into Totally Captivated, which I'd been meaning to read for ages and finally just sat down with it. Durarara!!: Moonshine by absynthess - So, I thought I was pretty much only going to stick to Shizuo/Izaya in this fandom. But then along comes Shizuo's brother and, well, crap. I'm totally weak to stuff like this now! And this fic is written beautifully, the way the author captures Shizuo's temper and the way that anger is there all the time and then plays it off Kasuka and Shizuo's dynamic with him, it all works so well for me. It was really kind of easy to just see all of this unfolding and how pretty it was. (Shizuo/Kasuka.)
Durarara!!: Smirk by absynthess - Another DRRR!! fic by this author and it's a little shorter, just a quick scene between Shizuo and Izaya in an alleway, but it's so on with what I wanted from these two that I didn't really care. I love the way the author contrasts their different kinds of smiles/smirks against each other, the sheer amount of tension between these characters, and their differing attitudes. It's harsh and violent and laughing and really kind of hot. I really liked the writing of this one a lot! (Some implied Shizuo/Izaya, I think.)
Durarara!!: Small Joys by lazyotter - This fic is based on that Tom & Jerry image on pixiv (which is one of my favorites, too) and it's about Erika, Kyohei, and Saburo having a meal together, while Erika speculates on Shizuo and Izaya's relationship and as;dlfkjaslkj oh my god I spent the whole thing just delighting in the semi-meta-esque aspect of a yaoi fangirl in the actual DRRR!! universe, because that's just so completely like the show to do. Also, it's hilarious to watch the others be pained as she goes on about it and just. Yes. It was great fun. (Sort of Shizuo/Izaya, but not really?)
Hunter x Hunter/Naruto: Only the Names Change by Aishuu - I was intrigued by the label of a Hunter x Hunter/Naruto crossover and I'm glad I clicked onto this because it was a really interesting way to connect the two series! The use of history repeating itself and a little detail that could be used to make a theme for the story were both really neat and I even enjoyed the way a lot of the "history" was dismissed as fantasy. It makes the old saying (those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it) come true in a really cool way. (No warnings/pairings.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: The Art of Restraint by galuxkitty - What I liked about this fic (aside from that it's porn! and cheerfully so!) is the way Hibari is characterized, even when he's bound up and unable to move, even when he fights back and lashes out at Dino, he wants to be here, in his own way. I really liked that he enjoyed the stings and burns of it, the rough edges to their sex, and outwardly he gave no quarter. Hell, even inwardly, he didn't really. And then he finally gets untied and, well, he's still Hibari about it and Dino just takes it cheerfully in stride. I love that about these two. (Dino/Hibari, NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Save The Best For Last by galuxkitty - Another fic where I like the Hibari characterization, where Hibari seems almost bored with everything or else just waiting for a good fight to come along. Dino thinking about their various firsts, so many of which came before their first kiss, was a delight as well and as;dlkfjas;lkj oh man Dino meeting Hibari's parents, what I wouldn't give for more of that in fic! I just... liked how everything unfolded without having to be a major deal, at least not for these characters. (Dino/Hibari.)
One Piece: Name by zhadra_ahni - [Note: There are some spoilers for recent-is events in the fic and this rec.] This is a look at Ace and the names (or lack of names) he's had in his life and it's this short thing that's not even 500 words, but it helped... well, obviously, I'm all over Ace because of the more recent chapters, so this helped give me that extra bit of time with the character and got into just what exactly all of Ace's different names mean to him. I love how Luffy just whirlwinds his way into Ace's life and it's perfect for these two. (No warnings/pairings.)
One Piece: Infamy by Tammaiya - [Note: It will probably have helped to have read the previous fic but both stand pretty well on their own. There may also be some spoilers for recent events--vague ones, but still definitely spoiler-ish.] Seven different scenes of people who heard about Monkey D Luffy looooong before they ever actually met him and, seriously, I could read this kind of fic forever. I honestly can't pick a favorite among these scenes--so many of the world's most powerful people and they all adore Luffy or they're all damn sick of hearing about him, it's amazing to see how far his influence spreads. I love how damn epic you realize the world and the characters are, just from how many people have heard of Luffy, but I also love that each of these scenes has its own tone and gets inside these different characters' heads. Tammaiya does a fantastic job with each of them. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)

I'll rec the doujinshi here separately, but there are several here.] You know, the longer I'm in fandom, the more Nnoitra/Nel sort of grows on me. Especially when it's such a gorgeous doujinshi like this one is! Nel is a little shyer/more demure than I'd have liked her, but the two of them are kind of ridiculously adorable together and I seriously just keep staring at the pages for how pretty they are. I'd definitely like to see this book get translated someday, especially since it's a slower-paced book, which is more about soft looks and words. (Nnoitra/Neliel.)

I'll rec the doujinshi here separately, but there are several here.] Another gorgeous doujinshi with Nnoitra and Nel, where you could just about believe that this was a professional mangaka or even (almost) a Bleach chapter (except it's more polished than KT's non-tankouban work). It's more of the same as the previous doujinshi, with both characters looking gorgeous and the layout of each page is professionally done and, man, do I just ever love HoneyCanon's work. I'll rec the doujinshi here separately, but there are several here.] I always waver on the Ulquiorra/Orihime pairing. I'm an OTP kind of person, but... the art is just so pretty on doujinshi like this, both characters have such interesting and pretty designs which can go well together! It's a very lovely pairing visually! And this doujinshi is gorgeous, it draws both characters beautifully and it's super adorable with Orihime's cute faces and Ulquiorra is his usual hilarious emo-appearing self. It was a real treat to come across today. <3 (Ulquiorra/Orihime.)
Gundam 00 Doujinshi (scanslated): Kawaii Hito - Since this doujinshi (and the next one) were recently posted to the G00 doujinshi comm, I had to snag them to at least check them out, since I occasionally like Billy/Graham stuff. I'm usually sort of on the fence about it, since I never know what to make of Billy's feelings for Sumeragi or the way Graham is portrayed often times, but... dammit, no, I love their friendship and potential for more. Plus, this doujinshi is kind of hilarious--Graham comes over, finds a used condom wrapper under Katagiri's sofa, assumes the worst, until Billy eventually says, hey, remember that was yours. And it's this light-hearted, silly thing and I kind of love Billy for being such a laid-back, cheerful sort of person and then, oh, hey, porn! All things that I pretty much wanted from this doujinshi. o/ That and really sort of surprisingly pretty art for both characters! (Billy/Graham, NC-17.)
Gundam 00 Doujinshi (scanslated): Innocent - Another Billy/Graham doujinshi and, every time I start getting into works for them, I find myself falling for the pairing all over again. And I love that Graham is the energetic one in this relationship, the way he's always cheerfully ready for more and giving the greatest thumbs up when he's ready while Billy is like, ".... again?" Even if he's a little more wide-eyed and blushing during the main part of the story (he's acting weird and Billy decides to go check on him to see and you can about figure out where it's going from there), which I don't usually go for, the rest of the story is kind of really entertainingly fun. Also, the smut is totally hot with these two and, shit, yeah, I'm back to shipping it. SIGH. (Billy/Graham, NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated): CONFIDARE - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be reasonably easy to join.] I know I'm kind of late in getting around to a lot of the doujinshi I wanted to recommend, but I love saving them for a day when I'm super in the mood for doujinshi and that made today that much more fun. I love a Dino/Hibari just like this one--where they kind of totally fail in communicating things to each other and where Dino is very much himself, which means that he's not perfect either. I love having it addressed that Hibari hates, more than anything, that Dino treats him like a kid sometimes, so it takes their future selves to get them anywhere close to actually discussing this. Plus, Lion*Punch! has some really great artwork, the characters are just gorgeous under her skills. The whole thing was just really damn satisfying. *__* (Somewhere between R and NC-17.)

Doujinshi (scanslated): Honey & Money 2 - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be reasonably easy to join.] Ahhh and this time the doujinshika is Peeco? whom I also really adore for her art and storylines! I really liked this one a lot, where Dino and Hibari are just sort of sliding into an easy relationship, but it's not really going anywhere, so Dino tries to push things along. Which goes totally splendidly, no, really. Somehow, despite them both being terrible at talking to each other properly, they manage to find a way through. Add in a lot of moments of humor, some really beautiful art throughout the pages, a strong hand that does professional-quality work, and a little bit of porn? You get something that's a really fun treat for this pairing and this fandom. a s;dfkljas;lkj god I'm right back to being in love with these two. (Dino/Hibari, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

Doujinshi (scanslated): Toshokan Sensou - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be reasonably easy to join.] And then, because I can hardly go a doujinshi recommending spree without getting a Banyu doujinshi in, now can I? This one is actually a little less porny than her usual fare--which isn't to say there isn't a sex scene, because there definitely is--which was fine by me. I really like her regular scenes a lot, too. This one was simple--Dino looking around for Hibari, eventually finding him in the library, and blowing him there, while a teacher nervously shuffles around in the background. It's kind of hilarious to see Hibari frightening the crap out of the teachers just by looking at them and HIS FACE when trying to be nonchalant about getting a blowjob under the desk! And I've mentioned that Banyu's characters are pretty, yes? Because they arrrre. (Dino/Hibari, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated): Dame Otoko-chan - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be reasonably easy to join.] With this fandom, sometimes you just have to accept that certain things are on crack. They just are. Like Xanxus fucking Squalo while reading the newspaper or the whole entire thing about Mukuro approaching Squalo to tell him the features of his true love or how he mistakes it for Levi or how everything just goes downhill from there. I laughed my way through the entire doujinshi because none of it was supposed to be taken seriously and I just shut my brain off for this. It helped that the art is very pretty, that the doujinshika does a really good job with both Squalo and Xanxus' characters, so that some panels could have come from Amano herself. It certainly makes the XS doujinshi really addicting when artists do that. (Xanxus/Squalo, some Xanxus/Levi, NC-17.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Acid Rain - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] You know, I'm not always in the mood for KH stuff, but occasionally I like a little of the series again... and what this doujinshi did was really neat, it captured the feel of the KH games and the memories vs hearts vs emotions vs not having a heart that's not really clear, it's almost like everything is a dream with Roxas and Axel. Not all of the art in this was perfect, there were some pages that you could tell weren't nearly as polished as they could have been, but other pages... this doujinshika did a great job on some of the pages, where both of them looked just gorgeous. It's a sort of quiet, laid-back doujinshi, just a simple story about Roxas and his lack of memories and his dream of Axel disappearing before his eyes, but that's what made it work. (Implied Axel/Roxas.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): End and Then - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] The art in this doujinshi almost sort of doesn't look that much like Riku and Sora, it was almost sort of like an original series, but... the reason I kept reading it was because it captured the characters post-KHII so well that I couldn't help it. Riku and Sora were so cute on Destiny Islands afterwards, the way Riku was quiet but not in a bad way, the way Sora would just beam at him or flop in his lap, the way Riku did kind of get all angsty again but Sora pulled him out of it... that's what I was reading for. The sex really was sort of extraneous to it and thankfully not too graphic! (Riku/Sora, somewhere around an R rating.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Yasashii Sokubaku - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] This is not going to be my favorite of the Riku/Sora pile of doujinshi, but... it's still Riku/Sora doujinshi and I liked it for that alone. It's even more fan-comic-like than the previous one, there's not a lot of inking here, but there are certain panels that are just... there are panels that you can really see the potential from this artist. Plus, it's nice to see Riku and Sora being cute together while trying to study and Sora wonders if Riku's hair is a bother, so Riku makes out with him instead. (Riku/Sora, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Yami no Tobira, Hikari no Kagi ~Hajimari no Shima~ - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] I really, really gave a lot of thought about whether or not to recommend this doujinshi because Riku pretty much rapes Sora in this doujinshi and... *flaps hands* I have a really hard time with that, even back when Riku was first falling to the darkness! It's just not cool. So why still recommend it, even with the caveat? Because it felt like there was more to it than that, because the rest of it was an interesting (if really dark) take on Riku's feelings for Sora and Kairi and the complicated mix, because it genuinely added to his decision to fall to the darkness, because it fit together with the opening of the first game. If you can turn your brain off long enough to skip over the rape part, it's an interesting story. (Riku/Sora, NC-17.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Walking Togehter - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec. Also, the link on their page seems to be broken, but I snagged a copy from this post which is in a freely joinable comm.] Okay, this is what I was looking for! The art is gorgeous, a mix between the KH manga style and a beautiful doujinshi style, there are some panels (especially of Riku *__*) that are just downright gorgeous. And I love the story--Riku being an emotional MORON and Sora sort of trying to struggle to figure him out and, even if it's painful, somehow they manage and Riku is still an emotional moron, but they understand each other. I love seeing their group visit the Twilight Town kids, which gets Riku annoyed and jealous, because Sora has other friends, so he wanders off and Sora follows and it's really sort of perfect. I could have done without the porny page (since they're still so young yet) but Kairi's reactions while they're away make it total gold. (Riku/Sora, NC-17 for that one page of porn.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Crown - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] This is the same doujinshika as the "Walking Together" doujinshi, which means it's the same kind of OMG YES THIS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR feeling that the previous one gave me. The art continues to be gorgeous, both Riku and Sora look amazing, even the other characters around them look fantastic and Kairi is so pretty here! I really like the nod towards Sora's feelings for her and putting the focus on Sora in this story, as he's trying to deal with his feelings for Riku and trying to figure out who Riku likes but NO ONE WILL TELL HIM T__T is delightful and reminds me that OMG I LOVE SORA RIDICULOUSLY, TOO. Like, the emotional moron over there is always going to be my favorite, but I really love Sora so much in this doujinshi, because he's such a wonderful character/friend/boyfriend. I seriously LOVE the doujinshika's o__o expressions on his face, she just nails the manga style on those panels! And I really love how she was able to make this post-game and have it be so peaceful and happy without making it boring. This is what I want for the characters. ♥ (Riku/Sora.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Sweet Sweet Sweet - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] This doujinshi is a little less polished and could probably have used a bit more inking (I think?) but... you can really see the artist's potential when she draws the characters and has close-ups on their faces. I'm hard-pressed to pick which of her characters looks more beautiful in this short story, because they're both lovely in certain panels! And I love how... peaceful and sweet this story is, how it's about Riku and Sora watching the sky on a nice day and clearly they both care for each other and Sora actually wants to kiss Riku! So he leans over and does it! Excellent. ♥ (Riku/Sora.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Innocent - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] Oh, man, you can tell this is one of RS' earlier works, but it's about 70 pages long and it's all about Riku and Sora back when they were kids, not long after Kairi had first come to the islands, and it's so interesting. It's a bit of a darker take on Riku than I might have gone for myself, but the doujinshika did a fantastic job of making it all about the underlying, unsaid emotions and obsessiveness. The art is so damn cute, it really has a feeling like the KH manga and this story is so well-paced and the layout is so strong that it's easy to take this as something a lot like another volume of manga for the characters. It's something of a simple story--Sora finds a chocobo egg on the island and decides to raise it, but this does not go very well--but it's all about being a prelude to what happens in the game and it's really sort of brilliantly told. (Implied Riku/Sora.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Colourful Sky - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] This is another one that I really gave a long pause on whether or not I wanted to recommend it because I'm just not that into doujinshi porn of Sora when he still looks so young. And I pretty much wound up skipping the entirely porny second half with Axel/Sora/Roxas because it was emphatically Not My Thing, but... as;djkalj the story parts of the Riku/Sora half were so cute! And RS draws a goddamned gorgeous Riku! And Aerith and Yuffie accidentally overhearing Riku and Sora having sex is kind of total gold! So, this is a rec with a pretty big caveat about the second half being shota as all get out and, hell, even the first half is kind of seriously shota-esque... but the first pages of this were really cute. (Riku/Sora, then Axel/Sora + Roxas/Sora, a huge NC-17 shotacon warning.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): The Pirate Ship Noah (volume 2) ~To Get Windward of Her~ - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable. This is also part 2 in a series of linked doujinshi.] It's been over a year since I read the first volume of this doujinshi series, I think? But I jumped right back into it because the first volume was so damn memorable and this volume is an amazing follow-up to it. It's nearly 60 pages long of a story by a doujinshika who is incredible at just nailing the OP style and sucking me into the emotional journey that Zoro and Sanji are going through here. They've been pulled into a painting that lures in people who have great affection for the sea and Sanji is getting pulled further and further along, but Zoro isn't. Which makes things a little difficult and what the doujinshika is really good at is making you feel the building tension and the emotional stress of the scenes. By the time Zoro is frantically swimming towards Sanji or when they're in the cargo hold and you can see Zoro's flashbacks, my heart was sucked into the story as well. Just. Seriously, hands-down the best ZoSan doujinshi I've read. (Zoro/Sanji.)
Tales of the Abyss comic/doujinshi (scanslated): untitled - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable. Also, there are large images under the cut, so be warned of loading times.] I have such a weakness for Ion/Anise fanworks and I love how well this artist really nails their designs and the gentle, sweet interaction between them that's also full of sadness because of the positions they've both been put into. I really liked how it was just a simple moment, but, because you see it from both points of view, you really feel the impossible situations they're in. I really liked this a lot. (Ion/Anise, but it could be gen, too.)

One Piece: Name by zhadra_ahni - [Note: There are some spoilers for recent-is events in the fic and this rec.] This is a look at Ace and the names (or lack of names) he's had in his life and it's this short thing that's not even 500 words, but it helped... well, obviously, I'm all over Ace because of the more recent chapters, so this helped give me that extra bit of time with the character and got into just what exactly all of Ace's different names mean to him. One Piece: Infamy by Tammaiya - [Note: It will probably have helped to have read the previous fic but both stand pretty well on their own. There may also be some spoilers for recent events--vague ones, but still definitely spoiler-ish.] Seven different scenes of people who heard about Monkey D Luffy looooong before they ever actually met him and, seriously, I could read this kind of fic forever. I honestly can't pick a favorite among these scenes--so many of the world's most powerful people and they all adore Luffy or they're all damn sick of hearing about him, it's amazing to see how far his influence spreads. I love how damn epic you realize the world and the characters are, just from how many people have heard of Luffy, but I also love that each of these scenes has its own tone and gets inside these different characters' heads. Tammaiya does a fantastic job with each of them. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)

I'll rec the doujinshi here separately, but there are several here.] You know, the longer I'm in fandom, the more Nnoitra/Nel sort of grows on me. Especially when it's such a gorgeous doujinshi like this one is! Nel is a little shyer/more demure than I'd have liked her, but the two of them are kind of ridiculously adorable together and I seriously just keep staring at the pages for how pretty they are. I'd definitely like to see this book get translated someday, especially since it's a slower-paced book, which is more about soft looks and words. (Nnoitra/Neliel.)

I'll rec the doujinshi here separately, but there are several here.] Another gorgeous doujinshi with Nnoitra and Nel, where you could just about believe that this was a professional mangaka or even (almost) a Bleach chapter (except it's more polished than KT's non-tankouban work). It's more of the same as the previous doujinshi, with both characters looking gorgeous and the layout of each page is professionally done and, man, do I just ever love HoneyCanon's work. I'm an OTP kind of person, but... the art is just so pretty on doujinshi like this, both characters have such interesting and pretty designs which can go well together! It's a very lovely pairing visually! And this doujinshi is gorgeous, it draws both characters beautifully and it's super adorable with Orihime's cute faces and Ulquiorra is his usual hilarious emo-appearing self. Gundam 00 Doujinshi (scanslated): Kawaii Hito - Since this doujinshi (and the next one) were recently posted to the G00 doujinshi comm, I had to snag them to at least check them out, since I occasionally like Billy/Graham stuff. I'm usually sort of on the fence about it, since I never know what to make of Billy's feelings for Sumeragi or the way Graham is portrayed often times, but... dammit, no, I love their friendship and potential for more. Plus, this doujinshi is kind of hilarious--Graham comes over, finds a used condom wrapper under Katagiri's sofa, assumes the worst, until Billy eventually says, hey, remember that was yours. And it's this light-hearted, silly thing and I kind of love Billy for being such a laid-back, cheerful sort of person and then, oh, hey, porn! All things that I pretty much wanted from this doujinshi. o/ That and really sort of surprisingly pretty art for both characters! (Billy/Graham, NC-17.)
Gundam 00 Doujinshi (scanslated): Innocent - Another Billy/Graham doujinshi and, every time I start getting into works for them, I find myself falling for the pairing all over again. And I love that Graham is the energetic one in this relationship, the way he's always cheerfully ready for more and giving the greatest thumbs up when he's ready while Billy is like, ".... again?" Even if he's a little more wide-eyed and blushing during the main part of the story (he's acting weird and Billy decides to go check on him to see and you can about figure out where it's going from there), which I don't usually go for, the rest of the story is kind of really entertainingly fun. Also, the smut is totally hot with these two and, shit, yeah, I'm back to shipping it. SIGH. (Billy/Graham, NC-17.)

Doujinshi (scanslated): CONFIDARE - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be reasonably easy to join.] I know I'm kind of late in getting around to a lot of the doujinshi I wanted to recommend, but I love saving them for a day when I'm super in the mood for doujinshi and that made today that much more fun. I love a Dino/Hibari just like this one--where they kind of totally fail in communicating things to each other and where Dino is very much himself, which means that he's not perfect either. I love having it addressed that Hibari hates, more than anything, that Dino treats him like a kid sometimes, so it takes their future selves to get them anywhere close to actually discussing this. Plus, Lion*Punch! has some really great artwork, the characters are just gorgeous under her skills. The whole thing was just really damn satisfying. *__* (Somewhere between R and NC-17.)

I really liked this one a lot, where Dino and Hibari are just sort of sliding into an easy relationship, but it's not really going anywhere, so Dino tries to push things along. Which goes totally splendidly, no, really. Somehow, despite them both being terrible at talking to each other properly, they manage to find a way through. Add in a lot of moments of humor, some really beautiful art throughout the pages, a strong hand that does professional-quality work, and a little bit of porn? You get something that's a really fun treat for this pairing and this fandom. a s;dfkljas;lkj god I'm right back to being in love with these two. (Dino/Hibari, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

This one is actually a little less porny than her usual fare--which isn't to say there isn't a sex scene, because there definitely is--which was fine by me. I really like her regular scenes a lot, too. This one was simple--Dino looking around for Hibari, eventually finding him in the library, and blowing him there, while a teacher nervously shuffles around in the background. It's kind of hilarious to see Hibari frightening the crap out of the teachers just by looking at them and HIS FACE when trying to be nonchalant about getting a blowjob under the desk! And I've mentioned that Banyu's characters are pretty, yes? Because they arrrre. (Dino/Hibari, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

They just are. Like Xanxus fucking Squalo while reading the newspaper or the whole entire thing about Mukuro approaching Squalo to tell him the features of his true love or how he mistakes it for Levi or how everything just goes downhill from there. I laughed my way through the entire doujinshi because none of it was supposed to be taken seriously and I just shut my brain off for this. It helped that the art is very pretty, that the doujinshika does a really good job with both Squalo and Xanxus' characters, so that some panels could have come from Amano herself. It certainly makes the XS doujinshi really addicting when artists do that. (Xanxus/Squalo, some Xanxus/Levi, NC-17.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Acid Rain - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] You know, I'm not always in the mood for KH stuff, but occasionally I like a little of the series again... and what this doujinshi did was really neat, it captured the feel of the KH games and the memories vs hearts vs emotions vs not having a heart that's not really clear, it's almost like everything is a dream with Roxas and Axel. Not all of the art in this was perfect, there were some pages that you could tell weren't nearly as polished as they could have been, but other pages... this doujinshika did a great job on some of the pages, where both of them looked just gorgeous. It's a sort of quiet, laid-back doujinshi, just a simple story about Roxas and his lack of memories and his dream of Axel disappearing before his eyes, but that's what made it work. Riku and Sora were so cute on Destiny Islands afterwards, the way Riku was quiet but not in a bad way, the way Sora would just beam at him or flop in his lap, the way Riku did kind of get all angsty again but Sora pulled him out of it... that's what I was reading for. The sex really was sort of extraneous to it and thankfully not too graphic! (Riku/Sora, somewhere around an R rating.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Yasashii Sokubaku - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] This is not going to be my favorite of the Riku/Sora pile of doujinshi, but... it's still Riku/Sora doujinshi and I liked it for that alone. It's even more fan-comic-like than the previous one, there's not a lot of inking here, but there are certain panels that are just... there are panels that you can really see the potential from this artist. Plus, it's nice to see Riku and Sora being cute together while trying to study and Sora wonders if Riku's hair is a bother, so Riku makes out with him instead. Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Yami no Tobira, Hikari no Kagi ~Hajimari no Shima~ - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] I really, really gave a lot of thought about whether or not to recommend this doujinshi because Riku pretty much rapes Sora in this doujinshi and... *flaps hands* I have a really hard time with that, even back when Riku was first falling to the darkness! It's just not cool. So why still recommend it, even with the caveat? Because it felt like there was more to it than that, because the rest of it was an interesting (if really dark) take on Riku's feelings for Sora and Kairi and the complicated mix, because it genuinely added to his decision to fall to the darkness, because it fit together with the opening of the first game. If you can turn your brain off long enough to skip over the rape part, it's an interesting story. (Riku/Sora, NC-17.)

Also, the link on their page seems to be broken, but I snagged a copy from this post which is in a freely joinable comm.] Okay, this is what I was looking for! The art is gorgeous, a mix between the KH manga style and a beautiful doujinshi style, there are some panels (especially of Riku *__*) that are just downright gorgeous. And I love the story--Riku being an emotional MORON and Sora sort of trying to struggle to figure him out and, even if it's painful, somehow they manage and Riku is still an emotional moron, but they understand each other. I love seeing their group visit the Twilight Town kids, which gets Riku annoyed and jealous, because Sora has other friends, so he wanders off and Sora follows and it's really sort of perfect. I could have done without the porny page (since they're still so young yet) but Kairi's reactions while they're away make it total gold. (Riku/Sora, NC-17 for that one page of porn.)

The art continues to be gorgeous, both Riku and Sora look amazing, even the other characters around them look fantastic and Kairi is so pretty here! I really like the nod towards Sora's feelings for her and putting the focus on Sora in this story, as he's trying to deal with his feelings for Riku and trying to figure out who Riku likes but NO ONE WILL TELL HIM T__T is delightful and reminds me that OMG I LOVE SORA RIDICULOUSLY, TOO. Like, the emotional moron over there is always going to be my favorite, but I really love Sora so much in this doujinshi, because he's such a wonderful character/friend/boyfriend. I seriously LOVE the doujinshika's o__o expressions on his face, she just nails the manga style on those panels! And I really love how she was able to make this post-game and have it be so peaceful and happy without making it boring. This is what I want for the characters. ♥ (Riku/Sora.)

I'm hard-pressed to pick which of her characters looks more beautiful in this short story, because they're both lovely in certain panels! And I love how... peaceful and sweet this story is, how it's about Riku and Sora watching the sky on a nice day and clearly they both care for each other and Sora actually wants to kiss Riku! So he leans over and does it! Excellent. ♥ (Riku/Sora.)
Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Innocent - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] Oh, man, you can tell this is one of RS' earlier works, but it's about 70 pages long and it's all about Riku and Sora back when they were kids, not long after Kairi had first come to the islands, and it's so interesting. It's a bit of a darker take on Riku than I might have gone for myself, but the doujinshika did a fantastic job of making it all about the underlying, unsaid emotions and obsessiveness. The art is so damn cute, it really has a feeling like the KH manga and this story is so well-paced and the layout is so strong that it's easy to take this as something a lot like another volume of manga for the characters. It's something of a simple story--Sora finds a chocobo egg on the island and decides to raise it, but this does not go very well--but it's all about being a prelude to what happens in the game and it's really sort of brilliantly told. Kingdom Hearts Doujinshi (scanslated): Colourful Sky - [Note: There are several KH doujinshi on this page, so you may have to scroll/ctrl+f for the specific one I'm recommending in this rec.] This is another one that I really gave a long pause on whether or not I wanted to recommend it because I'm just not that into doujinshi porn of Sora when he still looks so young. And I pretty much wound up skipping the entirely porny second half with Axel/Sora/Roxas because it was emphatically Not My Thing, but... as;djkalj the story parts of the Riku/Sora half were so cute! And RS draws a goddamned gorgeous Riku! And Aerith and Yuffie accidentally overhearing Riku and Sora having sex is kind of total gold! So, this is a rec with a pretty big caveat about the second half being shota as all get out and, hell, even the first half is kind of seriously shota-esque... but the first pages of this were really cute. (Riku/Sora, then Axel/Sora + Roxas/Sora, a huge NC-17 shotacon warning.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): The Pirate Ship Noah (volume 2) ~To Get Windward of Her~ - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable. This is also part 2 in a series of linked doujinshi.] It's been over a year since I read the first volume of this doujinshi series, I think? But I jumped right back into it because the first volume was so damn memorable and this volume is an amazing follow-up to it. It's nearly 60 pages long of a story by a doujinshika who is incredible at just nailing the OP style and sucking me into the emotional journey that Zoro and Sanji are going through here. They've been pulled into a painting that lures in people who have great affection for the sea and Sanji is getting pulled further and further along, but Zoro isn't. Which makes things a little difficult and what the doujinshika is really good at is making you feel the building tension and the emotional stress of the scenes. By the time Zoro is frantically swimming towards Sanji or when they're in the cargo hold and you can see Zoro's flashbacks, my heart was sucked into the story as well. Just. Seriously, hands-down the best ZoSan doujinshi I've read. (Zoro/Sanji.)
Tales of the Abyss comic/doujinshi (scanslated): untitled - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable. Also, there are large images under the cut, so be warned of loading times.] I have such a weakness for Ion/Anise fanworks and I love how well this artist really nails their designs and the gentle, sweet interaction between them that's also full of sadness because of the positions they've both been put into. I really liked how it was just a simple moment, but, because you see it from both points of view, you really feel the impossible situations they're in. I really liked this a lot.
