SHARING TIME:
small_fandoms has been really kind of horribly addicting lately, I think I picked up, like, three new series that I wanted to watch/read from it because they looked interesting. (Though, Okami and Odin Sphere totally need posts there, too. +__+)
AND ONTO THE RECS:

ARASHI:
The First Five Times (part 5) by Meg - ....since Meg just posted a new chapter of this fic, I went back to check my recs... and realized I'd only recommended the first four chapters. orz orz orz So, this is the chapter where Jun gets roped into helping Aiba model and I kind of love it because there are just enough details about the clothes and process to really picture it and make the fic feel really sharp sense of style, then wound together with the fabulous characterization, both of Aiba and Jun, plus the people around them. Rie-chan is so fantastic and I love her so much and she should get to have Sho as a prize, plus it's really kind of cool to see Jun in a setting that we see canon!Jun in fairly often, but with a totally different feel because this is an AU, yet there's something natural about it and it's just. Neat. It also moves the plot forward nicely--I know! Plot moving forward in a hooker fic! Just one of the many reasons I love Meg!--and yet Jun doesn't leave his previous world behind because he's really okay with it. A-also. The brief scene Jun thinks of when he remembers a particular client was really kind of hot. I'd read that fic. *__* (Aiba/Jun, it's only half the point.)
ARASHI:
The First Five Times (part 6) by Meg - a;sldkfja;lskj this chapter starts out with so much awesome that I can hardly contain myself. Jun being on the verge of snapping and going on a... well, maybe not a killing spree, but a very violent mother henning spree, will never not be funny. Especially when he's practically snarling and/or shrieking at Sho to come deal with this shit. And then. The disasterous client. Which will also never not be funny and, oh, god, this is why I love this particular hooker fic, why it's done right. Because there are actual clients and it's not all emo angst, instead it's almost like a normal life with normal bad days, except maybe a little more dangerous than other professions. Because the other thing I never get tired of, the thing that might just be one of my favorite scenes in the entire fic is Jun getting a little freaked out and calling Sho, who just barely keeps a lid on the explosion. I love it because exploding in fear/anger at him is how they all show their love and Sho being angry at someone for being stupid and putting themselves in danger... I-- I have to admit, I am That Fangirl, but it's not quite so embarrassing to admit when it's done really well. Seriously, my favorite chapter. *__* (Aiba/Jun, it's only half the point.)
ARASHI:
The First Five Times (part 7) by Meg - And this chapter is, like Meg says, the guys sitting around and talking, but that doesn't make it any less awesome because that's some of my favorite stuff. When she can get all five of them in a room and keep all their personalities straight and make all of them little bastards, but in different ways. I love the way the conversation rolls from one topic to another, even while the rest of them are all vaguely trying to keep in on the subject of Jun getting a new career, and then Aiba goes and says shit on purpose and a;xldkjl;aksj do you know how much I loved that line? Plus, this line from Aiba: "Rie-chan is very nice," said the person who had spent the entire afternoon composing an extended riff on the classic poem about the girl from Nantucket with her. "Isn't she, Jun?" as;ldkfja;lskjaslkjs oh god I love Aiba so much. I love all of them so much, really. Also, Jun watching Aiba drive was kind of strangely hot. *__* (Aiba/Jun, it's only half the point.)
ARASHI:
The First Five Times (part 8) by Meg - And, finally, the most recent post. WITH THE GREATEST BANNER EVER. I LOVE IT. I also love that Meg totally stops before getting to the good part because you know what? Fandom DESERVES IT. ....possibly I am a terrible person, but I'm okay with that! Also, waxrose has a fic snippet in the comments and as;dlkfjasl;kj that one better get posted soon, too. *__* Anyway, this chapter starts off with Nino and Jun having a conversation about Jun's life and it fills me with happiness because those two are such bitches and, yet, you can still tell how much they care about each other. Then Sho's day sucks and I love that that's a recurring theme through the fic, too, and of course the chapter ends with Aiba and Jun dragging Sho out to dance, ahahahaha. Another really fun chapter where the focus is on the guys in a group talking and being awesome for that. (Aiba/Jun and Ohmiya, but they're only half the point.)
CSI:
Victimology by Layton Colt - There are times when I'm kind of sad that I don't venture into the CSI fandom more because I just know I'm missing amazing pieces like this one. I only stumbled over this one by accident, but I'm really glad I did because it's a gorgeous look at Nick's character and the people around him. The writing itself is lovely, but it's also the really wonderful insights into Nick's character, the basic positive message of the series that's tempered with how painful so much is, how he cares about all these people around him, how Nick always reaches out to them, yet it takes a little piece of him with him each time. And it's not just Nick that she's really nailed, it's the characters around him and Nick's views on them as well, everything is just so damn good in this fic. (No warnings/pairings.)
Honeydew Syndrome:
Birthday by onionheeeeeeead - This is just a short little piece set pre-comic that was really cute. I can totally buy Josh being the kind of person that doesn't want a big deal made out of his birthday and would go to lengths to hide it and have a tough time with any girl who found out about it. I like the sense of him still hiding a lot of who he is here, yet it's still really cute and adorable and fluffy. <3 (Future Josh/Metis implied.)
Kamen Rider Den-O:
Clutch by Whisper - asl;dkfjasljk this isn't even 200 words, but yet I love it kind of a lot. Yuuto tries to learn how to drive a car. He can ride a motorcycle and drive a train, this shouldn't be that hard, right? And yet he's so Yuuto about it and it's just adorable. XD (Implied Yuuto/Ryoutarou, I'd say, but.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!:
Slightly out of character by stitchedophelia - I'm generally not that big of a reader of AU fics, but I'll always make exceptions in certain circumstances. This time being that a) I love D18 with an unholy passion and b) it's an author I like. Oh, yeah, and c) porn! \o/ I was surprised by how much I really kinda liked this AU as well, especially since Hibari is a lot nicer here, but maybe the pwp nature of it helps that along and knowing that there's an RP that this is a part of, but I think the fic stands well enough on its own. Plus, Dino is awesome and this line is one of my new favorite bits of head fanon: Dino is remarkably deft, quick and sure of himself when he’s completely sloshed, as;dlkfjal;sjk AHAHAHA YES. (Dino/Hibari, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!:
Piece by piece by piece. by stitchedophelia - You may want to read
Slightly out of character first, since that has backstory that goes along with this one (which is an AU based on an RP the author is involved in) but I don't think it's super necessary. And, okay. I may have mentioned my thing for Hibari once or twice. How I'll pair him with pretty much anyone and keyboard mash over the awesome of it. I would not have thought to look for Byakuran/Hibari from fandom, but the second I saw the headers for this, I knew I wanted it with a violent, burning passion. And this fic is exactly what I would want out of such a pairing--Byakuran is calm and smiling and calculated and effortlessly in control, Hibari is violent and a demon and so dangerous, yet still there are people far beyond him and this was. It was very, very non-con, but Hibari is the kind of character who fights all the way and it just. I'm... sometimes I'm That Kind of Fangirl, I admit it. The writing is gorgeous and the dynamic is perfect and it was really kind of hot and a;lsdkfja;lskj oh man Japan is never going to give me doujin for this, are they? *__* (Byakuran/Hibari, somewhere around a hard R rating, I'd say.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!:
Locked in a cage. by stitchedophelia - This one is a follow-up to
Piece by piece by piece and it helps to have read that one first, this one would probably be pretty confusing without it. This fic is less about Hibari and more about Byakuran and the way he breaks the things he considers toys, the way he plays with them and keeps them until they fully break. It's a much darker look than the previous fic, but I sort of found it intriguing as a character study, even if it was kind of hard to read at times. The writing continues to be lovely as always and I would still read more of this pairing. (Byakuran/Hibari, somewhere around NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) -
Quiz - You know, Byakuran and Shouichi are about the only two characters I'm even vaguely interested in that have come out of the Millefiore arc, so I was curious about seeing a doujinshi for them. I was just sort of expecting something somewhat cute and maybe not too long, but instead I got an interesting little thing and porn! \o/ The art is that... well, it's not precisely rough or sketchy, but it sort of has that general style, despite that there's a good amount of detail here and it looks pretty nice. I love that Byakuran seems to be pretty batshit crazy here (the outfit at the end made me lol) and it was nice to have some more doujin porno in the fandom, which I haven't gotten in several days. .....fandom is spoiling me, I suspect. (Byakuran/Shouichi, NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw/Chinese) -
multiple short stories - I briefly thought about recommending each of these doujinshi separately, because so many of them were from artists I really adored, but I assume they're from an anthology, which means they're all really short, most of them less than ten pages. So, I'm bundling them up, by pairing at least. And as;dlkfjaslkj I love anthologies because you get these fun little moments from so many different artists, which means so many different styles (Peeco?'s art is still lovely and OMG THE CHIBI ARTIST SO CUTE OMG) and so many great little moments (the 1691999 one has some seriously great expressions for Hibari) and some really hot art sometimes (omg Yodobosi's Dino is so hot *__* and the scene in bed with the two of them where Hibari's got a tonfa to Dino's throat? as;ldkfj not enough yes plz in the world)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw/Chinese) -
multiple short stories - Going by pairing, this rec is for the Yamamoto/Hibari doujinshi posted here. The first one's art isn't as canon-style-nailing as much as the D18 and 5927 ones where (though, the second was really good about that), but I found I didn't mind so much because it was long and how often do you see longer 8018 doujinshi? It's an interesting style and it's certainly disciplined at least and had a couple of great panels (a;sdlkfjaslkj Yamamoto pulling a sleeping Hibari close on the train omg yes plz or the second kiss on the train, which is just as much yes plz omg) and then you combine it with the other doujinshi that's shorter, but has a more traditional style and... it's sort of a light read for the pairing, but very, very nice. *__* (Yamamoto/Hibari.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw/Chinese) -
multiple short stories - And this time it's the Gokudera/Tsuna doujinshi. (And, man, it's like this post was practically made for me. The only thing missing is a little 6918, too. *__*) The first one is really kind of fantastic, there's a crapload of detail in it, to the point that each page is the kind you could stare at for several minutes (if you're like me and want to take in all the details, that is, shut up) but also the sharpness of the characters is great. The artist really nails the canon style, but also blends in a doujinshi style and just. asd;lfkjasl;kj this is why I read doujin in the first place. The second one (Febbre estiva) is slightly more simple, but it's set TYL and the characters are really pretty yet again. And, again, the third one really nails the canon style. It's not a super long doujinshi, but the combination of several of them made it satisfying for me. (Gokudera/Tsuna.)
