Okay, seriously, this is why I'm watching Kiva and why I ship Nago/Wataru. No matter how much het the show tries to throw at me with Nago/Maya or Wataru/Mio or how they try to gay it up with Kengo/Wataru, THEY WILL BE MY OTP FOREVER. AL:KJASDLKJA THE SCARF. THE WALL. Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: A Study of Why Hibari Kyouya Is the Way He Is by cliched_words - One of the things I've always had a fondness for in the REBORN! fandom with Hibari's character is that he grew up in a totally normal household and just turned out the way he is anyway, because that fits with Hibari's level of awesome. So, a fic where his family owned a pet store and his parents were perfectly normal and little baby Kyouya just turned out to be a scary little demon anyway? Yes plz. It was a cute fic that I liked the concept of a lot, the way nothing was really wrong with his surroundings, it was all Hibari himself. I'd like to see more like this. XD (No warnings/pairings.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Thrall by vicious_lullaby - It's been ages since I settled in to read some fic with Gokudera and Tsuna, hasn't it? I got a little distracted with other things. But I still adore this pairing, because Gokudera is so wrapped up in Tsuna and this fic does a lovely job with that without going too far overboard (not that that's easy, given what Gokudera's like in the actual manga XD), playing off Gokudera's issues at what happened to Tsuna ten years later and of course it was going to send him spinning out of control. I adore that Tsuna is finally the one to do something, to re-ground Gokudera here, and with some very nice blowjobs to go with it. I really can't ask for more than that--lovely characterization, writing, and smut? Fandom spoils me sometimes. <3 (Gokudera/Tsuna, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Pervade by vicious_lullaby - a;sdlkfja;slkj so I clicked onto this fic because I have a lot of fondness for the Yamamto/Squalo pairing and I've liked the author's other work a lot. And then. AND THEN. The first line of this fic reads: “VOIIII, Vongola brat! I’m here to fuck your Rain Guardian; you got a problem with thaaat?” and a;sdlkfjaslkjslkj I was crying from then on. It's a short little fic, but it's so easy to see and I'm really glad I wasn't drinking anything because it's got a great punch at the end and the middle parts with Tsuna's brain making those grinding death-noises I'm sure and just. as;ldkfjal;skjslkj LOL. This was beautiful. (Squalo/Yamamoto.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Rationales by vicious_lullaby - Oh, man, yes. This is only 200 words and it's painful (as many fics that focus on Gokudera's reaction to the events of the future) but it's lovely at the same time and the way he denies Lal's words at first, then comes to understand her and his rationales fall apart... it's beautifully done. There are two moments that I really wanted to quote because they were just so pretty and right on for Gokudera. (Implied Gokudera/Tsuna and Colonnello/Lal, but it could be gen, too.)
Vampire Knight: Listen and Submit, My Servant by berrygold - Okay, so. I still ship Zero/Yuuki in the manga itself. But Kaname/Zero is my weakness (and it really doesn't help that Hoshino totally encourages it, I swear), so fic by an author I like where Zero is feeding from Kaname? Yes plz. It's an intimate little moment, just a short piece but the atmosphere achieves what the author was going for and it's not a happy relationship these two have, not even under the surface. Which is as it should be. *__* (Kaname/Zero.)
- Kekkaishi - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I really should not be browsing Kekkaishi art sites yet. I'm only working on volume 7 of the manga (and have been stalled on it for ages), but I stumbled over the link to a really awesome looking Masamori illustration and I couldn't resist clicking. And this is some really kick ass art, it nicely keeps the feel of the original manga while still also being about the artist's own style, some of her color art is fantastic even. Plus, I am not opposed to the idea of Masamori/Shishio, not when some of the art looks damn near like it could have come from the original series itself. *__* (Masamori/Shishio.)
- Ranma 1/2 - apnea [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It's been ages since I even thought about looking for Ranma fanart, but my favorite okekai board was having a Rumiko week and that led to checking a few sites out and that led to stumbling over Rumiko Search and then that led to checking a few more sites out. And this one is totally just my speed--a decent amount of art and it's really cute and captures the original manga's style and yet still has the artist's own style in it and it's all about Ranma and Akane. ♥ Not everything is perfect, but there are lots of soft colors and the two of them being cute at each other and some really cool concepts/poses it just. Satisfies that craving I have for pairing stuff with them. <3 Especially the one of them in the snow. That made me happy in my heart. (Ranma/Akane.)
- Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - You know, I go back and forth on Luke/Tear sometimes. There are times when I can understand the criticisms of it. But then there are times when I'm just, "But... but... but I like it.... ;__;" and I'm kind of in the latter mood right now. There's not nearly enough fanart for these two out there, so I treasure a site whenever I come across it, especially when it has such cute, adorable art. It's very light and airy, the colors soft and gentle, the lines round and soft as well. I imagine you'll have to be a fan of the pairing first before enjoying this site, but if you like them, it's cutely satisfying and enjoyable to go through the gallery. <3 Plus, there's an Asch/Natalia image floating around in the gallery and the Luke/Tear comic sketches are really kind of well-done and some of the sketches in the log section are really kind of fabulous, too. *__* (Luke/Tear, some gen.)
- Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I came here because I was following a link from the previous Luke/Tear site and I wanted to see if I could find more art for them. And I do like the art for the pairing here, but I think I wound up staying more for the overall variety on the site, since the artist put in several other characters, too. She has a really cute Anise image, a cool Asch one and... is that a choose your own adventure comic with Asch and Mushroom Road? .....AWESOME. The chibi art in the comics! SO FREAKING CUTE. (Plus, the happy ending had Asch and Natalia in it? HI, FANART SITE, ILU A LOT. ♥) So, it was stuff like that on the site that made it even better, in addition to the really sweet and cute Luke/Tear art. I totally had fun on this site. ♥ It might not be for everyone, the art is sketchy (I almost wanted to say it was stylized in a way, but that's not really what I mean) and it looks deliberately rough, but I kind of liked it anyway. And, the further you get into the gallery, the smoother and prettier the art gets, so you may want to start with the most recent if you're not as much of an art junkie as me? (Some Luke/Tear, some gen.)
- Tales of the Abyss/Code Geass - Color Season [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There's not a whole lot of art on this site, but what's here is kind of fantastic. I was only three or four clicks into the gallery when the art started taking on this really clean, professional look, the colors are solid and anime cel-style and the proportions are good and, yes, you can still tell it's fanart, it's the really good kind. *__* Plus, okay, I'm weak to Guy in a bartender's outfit. The site does have a lot of pairings I don't see often (though, I wouldn't mind seeing more of Jade and Nebilim, at least not in a gen way) and I was kind of surprised to stumble over the Jade/Guy illustration, but... well, hell, any site that gives me pretty fanart of Tear and Natalia standing back to back, ready to fight, is A+ with me. XD As for Code Geass, there's even less art here for that series than there is ToA, but it's the same solid, nearing professional-level stuff that looks really pretty. Even with the sketches, you can tell the artist has a strong grip on the characters, which is nice. <3 (Some pairings, some gen for both series, there really aren't any recurring themes.)
