Avatar: The Last Airbender: Kinda by ruebroadway - [Note: There will be some spoilers for the series finale in this fic and this rec.] So, you know what I want a whole lot of in Avatar fandom? Zuko/Mai porn, plz. Or at least something a little more risque. Just sometimes. So this fic was a nice post-series read because it's the reunion scene with Zuko and Mai set from her point of view, showing how strong she is and yet how much everything they'd been through had affected her as well. It was sweet--well, the Zuko and Mai version of sweet--and one of those things that I just sort of needed post-finale. (Zuko/Mai, not quite safe for work.)
Avatar: The Last Airbender: no place like by trixie - [Note: There will be some spoilers for the series finale in this fic and this rec.] This is one of the fics that I read shortly after watching the finale and I'd had vague desires for something with Toph, but I didn't realize how much I wanted something exactly like this until I stumbled over trixie's fic. It's a fantastic Toph piece, where she goes home, not quite the same person she was when she left, but still so very Toph and the writing nails her hesitancy mixed with bravery so beautifully. I really can't express how satisfying a Toph piece this was for me, how perfectly I saw it fitting together with the canon post-series and how easy it was to see/hear every scene in my mind's eye. It's really a lovely piece. (No real warnings/pairings.)
Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Stone In Your Head by geekerypokery - [Note: There will be some spoilers for the series finale in this fic and this rec.] I picked the link for this one up off Memlu's journal and I'm very glad to have read it. Post-series, after Aang makes his choice and does things his way, he goes back to talk to the previous incarnations of Avatars to talk to them about his choice and their advice. It's a really lovely look at Aang's strength of character and his unbendable spirit, mixed with the themes of the show, especially the importance of self versus the importance of the world for the Avatar and how they're connected/disconnected. Another really lovely piece. (No real warnings/pairings.)
Kamen Rider Kabuto: untitled by Circe - I love that Circe drops little commentfics all over the place because they keep me non-starved in such a small fandom and they're so often these delightful little snippets that are based on a really hilarious little idea. This commentfic is Kagami and Juka having a special secret from Tendou and you pretty much know where it's going, yet you still dissolve into laughter every time you get to the ending anyway. Of course that's how it would go. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)
Kamen Rider Kabuto: untitled by moonbyrd - And moonbyrd also occasionally drops commentfics which delights me a whole lot. I really like Kagami's denial of his attraction to Tendou here because he's talking to Hiyori and Hiyori should not know these things even if you'd have to be kind of blind not to know that Tendou's hot. I really like this take on Hiyori, too, she's so straightforward and no-nonsense even when she has to put up with multiple idiots around her. ♥ (Some Kagami/Tendou, it's only half the point.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: A day to live and die by stitchedophelia - I'm not sure what made me decide to read this fic. It's not that I have any objection to Hibari/Tsuna, it's just that I rarely seek it out since I like them with other people. But I was saving the author's other fic (a Dino/Hibari one, I think) for after and thought, eh, what the hell, I'll read this one, too. And I really like the take on Hibari and the events between the current timeline and the TYL timeline, there's something so... Hibari about his role (or lack thereof in some ways) in the events that led to Tsuna's death and the way no one would ever really know (as mentioned in the opening lines) because of "twists and turns of a rewritable future" is somehow... just perfect for a Hibari/Tsuna fic. (This could be gen, it could be Hibari/Tsuna, whichever way you want to see it, I think?)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Ofrenda by stitchedophelia - This is a really short fic (only three paragraphs, even if they are solid-sized) but it doesn't really need to be longer, it's an interesting take on the idea of Hibari possibly having tattos and, holy crap, it's kind of really hot. I feel like normally I would hate the idea, but I was all over it here, especially the way Dino and Hibari both act towards the tattoos. I love the glimpses of imagery the author uses as well and some of the turns of phrase in this are just lovely. (Dino/Hibari.)
ARASHI Fanvid - If I Were Gay - In a weird bit of synergy, this one was posted the night after I'd watched the Nobuta video with the same song, and it was just as much fun to watch. Aiba/Nino! That pairing does not get enough love in fandom, much less videos that use tons of clips from the last several years of the two of them being gay at each other (which there are kind of a surprising amount of!) and I just. Fell in love with all the chaos they'd cause all over again and laughed quite a lot during this one. *loves*
Nobuta wo Produce Fanvid - If I Were Gay - Tammaiya linked me to this video yesterday morning and I watched it and asd;fkljaslkjas usually it's hard to get me interested in live action-based fanvids if they're not really, really well-done, but this one was kind of seriously brilliant. The clip choices, the editing, the beautiful use of canon moments to fit with the song that show off just how gay this series could be, the way I LOL'd the whole way through... fantastic.
