ARASHI:
it takes two by applepluspie - This was a really cute little fic, just a sort of... uneventful, quiet day, even while Arashi is still being Arashi, especially Aiba, who is playful and fun, but not childish. There's even Aiba torturing Nino, who probably deserves it somehow, and Jun just sort of tries to pretend he doesn't know any of them because otherwise he'd be a giant squishie at them. And I like the fic's laid-back tone, it's comfortable and sweet, ending on a really warm and fuzzy note that works because, well, Jun is kind of a squishie, no matter how he tries to deny it, especially for Aiba, who just sort of worms his way in somehow. <3 (Aiba/Jun.)
ARASHI:
Breakfast by ayisse - Do you know how much I love Aiba/Nino/Jun? Do you know how much I love them just barging right into Jun's kitchen and totally destroying his lazy, peaceful Sunday morning? A whole lot. Plus, it uses those embarrassing nicknames for Jun with total glee and there's hardly much I love more in life than his bandmates making Jun's full of pain. I love that Aiba and Nino just sort of run right over him, you know they would, and Jun kind of hates them, but is also totally weak to them. This was so charming. <3 (Aiba/Nino/Jun, but is really gen more than anything. Sort of.)
Avatar: The Last Airbender:
The Wrong Kind of Compass by PikaBot - [Note: There are spoilers for the Avatar finale in this fic.] One of the things that I totally thought should happen was that Sokka should go look for his space sword because Toph could totally use her bending to find it right? And then along comes this fic! And it's really cute and shows Toph being totally awesome about it and Sokka being kind of fail and totally awesome at the same time, and even a mild hint of Toph's feelings for him and it's like. Everything I could have asked for from the fic. <3 (Mention of Sokka/Suki, a minor moment of one-sided Sokka/Toph, but it's mostly meant to be gen. Sokka/Toph fans may enjoy it anyway?)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!:
Fine Arts Between Tongue and Teeth by kasugai gummie - There are few authors who could get me to read this concept and love it in a non-trashy entertainment sort of way, but I wound up really liking this one, partly because it's not taking itself 100% seriously, but also because it's just really well-written. Dino being just drunk enough to miss the usual warning signs when he hits on Kyouya during dinner and then Hibari's reaction and then. Just. The ending. Beautiful. Of course that's Dino for you. XD (Dino/Hibari.)
One Piece:
Read to me by lovelymaia_chan -
idiosyn pointed this fic out tonight since she thought I might like it and I was really quietly charmed by it. It's very sweet, but in the lazy, sunny day where everything feels at peace that you know happen in the OP world, even if the manga focuses on the action most of the time. And it's really sweet of Luffy to pick up Nami's navigation book to help her out in his own way, one of those Awww-inspiring moments that I just. Like. ♥ (Luffy/Nami potentially implied, but it could be gen, too.)
Princess Tutu:
Another Story by etothey - I picked the link for this story up from
rilinafic's del.icio.us links and it was a gorgeous read. Princess Tutu is a series that can attract a lot of meta-esque stories to it, which I actually really like, but this one tells a whole extra fairy tale layered into a fairy tale layered into a fairy tale and feels like it could fit together with the original series seamlessly. I love the writing of this fic as much as I love it for the meta aspect and the really, really fantastic ending. (No real warnings/pairings.)
Psych:
Five Things About Lassiter, O'Hara, and Target by jesshelga - Oh, for god's sake, I didn't think I was this much of a dweeb, but I was totally grinning throughout this whole fic and possibly for several minutes afterwards, because she just does so damn well at what makes the Lassiter/Juliet dynamic so much fun. They're shopping at Target! And it's beautiful because you know it would go exactly like that and it's all these little moments and bits of insight into their characters and it totally hits the OTP vibe without being too mushy and I just-- Yeah, big stupid grin on my face the entire goddamned time, god. (Lassiter/Juliet.)
Psych:
Out Cold by X-Parrot - Having been put into a Psych-friendly mood yet again, I went wandering over to FFNET and snagged one of X-parrot's fics that I hadn't yet read, which is totally a shame because this is fabulous but also totally fantastic because this was fabulous. There are some impulses you never outgrow as a fangirl and two characters stuck on a snowy deserted road is one of them, especially when the author is clever and witty enough to actually pull it off. Gus' pov is beautiful with how spot-on it is when he gets a call from Shawn and Shawn's just as... well, Shawn. Every time Gus thinks something or talks to Shawn or there's some really ridiculously nerdy reference, I just gleed because it was so perfect and fun. asd;lfkja the only thing missing is the next chapter. (No real warnings/pairings.)
RH+:
Theory and Practice by enigel - I've been slowly watching RH+ as part of a trade and I've kind of fallen in love with the series a lot, especially adorable Ageha. He's not my usual type, I'm not usually much for the cute little whiny ones, but somehow he just charmed his way right into my fangirl heart. So! It's delightful to me that there's a fic with him in it, especially since I'd just finished watching the goukon episode with Konoe the same night I read this fic, so it was kind of perfect timing. And this is delightful, the author totally captures everything that's adorable, fun, and amusing about the series and I just. a sdfklaslj good RH+ fic! I didn't think it'd exist! (....I suppose this could count as Konoe/Ageha, but it's not really at all.)
RH+:
untitled by Mendax - I was a little wary of reading this fic, because I wasn't particularly feeling the idea of Kiyoi/Michitaka, but I wanted to see the author would handle it. So, I read. And I'm really glad I did because this is kind of a delightful little story from Michitaka's point of view and is full of quiet, almost unspoken something that Kiyoi is obviously aware of, but doesn't seem to reach him at all. I was really impressed with how clearly I saw the scene unfold in my head and how well it fit with a character that I've only just barely seen. So glad to have read this. <3 (A little one-sided Kiyoi <-- Michitaka implied.)
